GopherSports.com will be posting interviews with all the newest Gophers from the 2011 signing class throughout the remainder of the winter and spring. The first profile of the series is a conversation with linebacker Quinn Bauducco of Moorpark, Calif.

Bauducco was rated the No. 37 inside linebacker in the nation by Rivals.com, while Scout.com and ESPN/Scouts Inc. rated him No. 41 and No. 51, respectively. Rivals also rated him as the No. 96 player in the state of California. Bauducco was a first-team all-league selection for the last two seasons, a first-team all-Los Angeles choice and a second-team all-county pick last season. He recorded 53 tackles last year, after putting up 80 stops to rank No. 3 in the Marmonte League as a junior.

Sounds like he's got a good head on his shoulders. Wants to be a leader, and academics are very important to him and his family.

Sounds like a winner.

Welcome to The U.

He seems really intelligent, has great size and is generally really looking forward to coming to this campus. I'm pretty excited about him.

P.S. I know that he is really looking forward to having his first collegiate game at the coliseum, but if he red shirts he cannot attend road games, correct?

To my understanding that is correct. They all have to stay home and wash clothes, separating whites from reds so the whites don't get pink. :)

A red shirt isn't declared so a red shirt candidate may travel with the team if the coaches need him as a backup. They don't bring all players because of cost and a travel restriction imposed by the B1G (can't find a current reference, but there used to be a travel one). There are some players that know they will be Red Shirting and won't travel.

I would have liked a follow up question to the last paragraph. What is in his opinion the difference between the midwest and west coast football culture?

This guy is going to be a performer for us. Give him a RS year of training with another spelling Beal, he will be a 3 year starter at MLB. Sam who?

He is Kill kind of player, kudos to Brew for landing him.

I actually live in Moorpark. If MN wants some good defensive players Moorpark is a good place to get them as Moorpark's team usually is very strong defensively and plays in a very strong league here in Ventura County. Ventura County has some of the stronger teams in the LA area.
