Full recap of Pitino interview on 1500...talked roster, recruiting, Hollins', Bigs

Between Mo being too heavy, EE being out of shape/weak, and Buggs not putting any weight on during his redshirt year, seems like Tubby and his staff didn't put a lot of stock in being strong and well conditioned. Disappointing to see from such a high caliber coach.

Look at how much bigger and stronger Sampson got over the course of his career. (sarcasm).

wally had mono, not buggs.

I've got worms. That's what I'm gonna call it

LOL

That thread was all speculation since there hadn't been any games broadcasted on TV to that point. If you read what I actually said, you'll see that I said EE SHOULD HAVE put on some weight by that point because he was going into his third year in the program. If Tubby would have had him on a better program than he would have been bigger. I'm still high on EE and Mo as our centers the next 2 seasons. Not sure why you felt the need to link to that thread.

I just like being right, sometimes. My point in the original thread was that it was obvious at the time that there were issues with the strength and conditioning of Tubby's teams. High on Richard Pitino as i am, it didn't take his hiring and evaluation of the team to figure that out - this frustrated me for years. The guys Pitino has already recruited, as far as the 'eye test' goes, all seem to have more NBA-type bodies than an average Tubby recruit. Instant progress. I really believe that the players being in shape will have nearly as big of an impact on the team as the coaching change itself. If nothing else, in that one regard, we'll finally be on an even playing field instead of at a deficit.

No need to worry about Charles Buggs' weight. As i've stated numerous times, he's going to be awesome. Isn't that reassuring enough?? Additionally, Richard Pitino recently suggested that he may be the Gopher to make the biggest leap next season. Good enough for me. It's fun to even be able to play at wearing rose colored glasses as a Gopher fan, for once.

Cue the Charles Buggs highlight films ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=oJAFzt983ao#t=49s !!!

Charles Buggs was a top 5 recruit in the country, correct? The less he plays the more touted he becomes.

The only thing I remember about his recruitment was that the reports were coming back that he was averaging a double-double or something at Hargrave but we never saw any box scores...and then someone actually contacted a person close to the program and they said something about him being a bench warmer.

I will watch him closely this fall and I am really hoping he was a diamond in the rough.

I agree....Buggs will be a solid player for the U. He has the speed\athleticism to fit into what Pitino has suggested he wants to do. Tubby had a great recruit here, glad he redshirted him.

That makes it official.

What we discovered is getting info on a kid from Hopkins is not the same as getting info from a military prep school. One poster from out east and another named Chitwood from Texas provided the board with updates on Buggs. It's all here somewhere.

Here's one. That Hargrave coach was really blowing smoke up Jimmy Chitwood's ass.

Thanks, Plinnius.

It seems like Jimmy Chitwood was Buggs' personal agent, but at the same time had never seen the guy play and couldn't confirm/deny anything.

Very strange.

What was the word on Buggs' performance in practice during the season?
