per FSN:
They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks, but what about a longtime football coach?
Gophers head coach Jerry Kill has installed some no-huddle offense into his team's game plan this spring. It's not something Minnesota did much of in Kill's first four seasons, but the Gophers are evolving as the college football landscape evolves.
"You've got to stay ahead of the game, and that's what we're trying to do," Kill said early in spring camp. "You look at the best and then you try to figure out how you're going to be the best. I think we've worked at it and we're trying to do some of those things."
The jury's still out on just how much no-huddle the Gophers will use during the course of the regular season -- or Saturday's spring game at TCF Bank Stadium, for that matter -- but it's evident that the hurry-up approach is a new wrinkle to Minnesota's offense. There are several reasons the Gophers have worked it into their playbook.
