Before looking too far ahead, here are five things we learned from the Gophers' win over the Huskers.

1. One win away
2. No David Cobb, no problem
3. Briean Boddy-Calhoun continues to be a playmaker on defense
4. Tracy Claeys continues to be the master of halftime adjustments
5. This Gophers team doesn't quit

Go Gophers!!

I have taken to calling halftime "TracyTime".

Because few are better during those 20 minutes.

I would kindly request all Gopherholers to begin calling halftime "TracyTime".

Can't argue against any of the five. As for number 4, with Wisconsin's offense, Claeys is going to have to be the master of having them ready to go from the opening kickoff as well as the master of halftime adjustments. Wisconsin is better than any team we have beaten this year, and I think we can beat them, but I don't think we will do it coming back from 14 down.

Disagree strongly with #2. The Gophers were able to make things work yesterday, which is wonderful. However, Cobb is by far the best back of the top four (Cobb, Edwards, Kirkwood, Williams). All of the others have athletic ability; including speed, toughness, etc. But none of the other three have displayed his vision or stability/cutting ability. Not that, on any given day, one of these other 3 couldn't have a monster day. It's just not as likely.

If Cobb can't go next week, the guy I'd be most interested in, I think, is Williams. He could really put a hurt on and wear down the Wisconsin D, especially if the weather is cold where it hurts a little much more. Kirkwood hits hard as well, but doesn't let the hole open, and ends up losing a lot of his momentum to his own blockers. Still, I wouldn't want to be a D-back and have to face Williams or Kirkwood one-on-one. You might tackle him, but it's gonna leave a mark.

Could not agree more. DK20 is a bull, but Nugget has better vision and surprisingly is a bit faster. Not sure what our chances are without Cobb, but I feel they are better with RW35 than DK20.

I think Cobb is partly a product of the system. His durability being the "it" factor. That said, running back by commitee can not only duplicate him, it might be an enhancement against the Budgies. Who to they prepare for?

As for Claeys, genius. The whole point of halftime adjustments is to take what the opponent gives you and refit your gameplan. Sometimes you get lucky and your opponent plays into your first half plan. Turnovers help. 90% of football is "second half". All you need to do is stay in range.

Cobb's patience and vision have nothing to do with the system. You lost me on this one.

^^^^^^ Or what Spoofin Said before I did ^^^^^^

Cobb has vision and patience that neither Williams nor Kirkwood enjoy. Cobb isn't particularly fast nor terribly shifty. He is patient, breaks a lot of tackles and almost always falls forward and very rarely fumbles.
