per Fox 9:

"I just know my son, Antonio Shenault, and I know he's not that type of person,” said Kenneth Shenault, a father of one of the suspended players.

Antonio Shenault's parents are ready for a fight.

"This is our name. I'm not associated with any sexual misconduct. Not my name. Not Shenault. Absolutely not,” he said.

Antonio, a sophomore, is one of 10 players who will go before a university administrative panel on Thursday. This comes from an investigation into an alleged sexual assault last September that was never criminally prosecuted.

The 10 players have all been suspended from the team, but face a range of more severe school discipline from outright expulsion to one-year bans down to Antonio's punishment - a year of probation.

His mom is disgusted by the process.

Go Gophers!!

I hope they sue the crap out of the U and force them to consider a better solution.

"I think its racial profiling, especially for Antonio." It appears that the group dynamic is beginning to fray at the edges. It will no longer be "NLMB" to each man for himself.

This is the injustice that results in the zeal to protect rape victims which is a very real occurrence in most university campus.

The system is heavily biased against the accused with no due process. All someone can do is point an accusatory finger. No substantiation or evidence or proof is needed. Lives and reputations are ruined.

There are countless stories on both the side of the victim and the accused.

The system must be fixed so there is fair due process. What complicates matters is there are two competing judicial process - the criminal justice side and the student code of conduct/EOAA side. They are not in sync.

Someday, this may very well end up in the US Supreme Court.

This is as close as you can get to a communist system of justice.

What does this even mean...?

How do you prove that something that never happened, happened? Think about how the Shenault family must be feeling if their son is telling the truth. And why would a family question the veracity of their son? I would not. This is so hard, for both sides of the equation. Let's try and be nonjudgmental.

It will be very interesting to see what happens with that last group of players that was implicated in all of this. Hopefully for Shenault if he really wasn't there he has found a way to prove it. At the very least we will be taking a step closer to resolving all this over the next few days, I just hope that the players get fair treatment in all of this. I know many have decided there is no way that can happen but I am willing to wait and see how it all plays out before saying that.

Oh, i'm ok with that then as long as coyle and kaler's heads still roll.

I'm sure they would file a claim if they lost, assume the policy has limits so that might be an issue.

Glad to see that others are willing to let the whole process play out before passing judgement. Reggie Lynch had to go through an EOAA investigation and a punishment was recommended for him. (Don't know what the recommendation was.) And after going through the appeal process the committee decided that no punishment from the school was appropriate. Let's hope these players get the same fair treatment he did.

Lynch went through the appeal process?

This is what happens when the university backs the wrong horse

And right here is the problem that everyone should have with this process. Shenault has to prove that he wasn't there, and not the other way around. This is one of the many fundamental flaws in the EOAA system as it is currently incarnated.

Like I said previously, we have an extra-judicial system of justice that mirrors one in a socialist state more than our regular system of justice.

This may be a case for the US Supreme Court. It is potentially a violation of the VI Amendment of the US Constitution.

The over reaching deal were this is not a criminal case, but yet they can administer severe live changing punishment without due process as defined by the constitution in a regular criminal case is absurd to me.

This has the potential to cost the U a ton of money.

The Title IX scare a lot of universities for fear of losing federal dollars. The end result is what we are seeing increasingly over other university athletics program. Over-reaction and in many cases students rights and lives are ruined. They need to protect the sexual victims rights. But, it must be done fairly.

I'm not a fan of the process and all.

On the other hand "I know my son" kinda statements are a dime a dozen.... doesn't tell me much.

Granted, I'd be super frustrated too as a parent. I don't blame them.

If indeed it comes out that Miss. Hewitt and the EOAA are deliberately targeting African American male football athletes , there will be a major overhaul at the U. Maybe instead of her changing the football "culture", it is her culture and the entire U administration that will change as a result of a major legal case.

I don't know all the facts of what happened at the party. One would think there were other non-athletes present, but if it comes out that the athletes were singled out there will be major financial consequences.

As I have stated before, this is a case of racism. The only question is whether society will brush it off and ignore it or if we will address the elephant in the room.
