Their comments near the end of the game were so typical.

- OSU doesn't play a tough schedule. The topper to this though was when they suggested the Big Ten should do a better job matching up division games, and have OSU play Nebraska, WI, Iowa, or Northwestern. Instead, they are playing a couple of weak crossover games
- Herbstreit said WI should be favored in rest of games, and TCU not in his top 4 after showing against MN. Really, it's because TCU played poorly instead of playing a good game, and WI gets blown out, but...

Oh well, Jerry and the team will just have to go out and win the games on the field

i thought the same thing ozzy. i do love being the underdog so i'm fine with it.

It'll all play out. What those guys say or think doesn't matter. The CFP Committee gets to determine those kind of things, not ESPN.

I do not mind playing as an underdog... but the comments we hear on he media just drives me insane!!! Gophers get no credit at all!!!
The only teams that seem to matter to the media are OSU, Michigan St, Penn St and Michigan!!!! Enough already....

I thought they were both phenomenal, especially Herbstreit. Favorite commentators in sports.

They do go with the big dogs, but are an excellent play-by-play team; I was sorry to see Fowler leave Gameday - wonder what all that was about.

National respect is earned over time. Simple as that. Once you win consistently you will matter and then be talked about as if you do.

Fowler knew in 2013 his time as host was perhaps nearing its end, and his 2014 contract expanded his tennis coverage. His and Herbstreit's juggling of GameDay and the marquee ABC night game was, at times, less than ideal. In Week 2, GameDay was live from Oregon in the morning. With Virginia Tech-Ohio State too far away, Fowler and Herbstreit were assigned USC-Stanford.

With less than a three-hour window, the pair left Oregon's campus in traffic and boarded a charter that took a touch-and-go landing at the San Jose airport, forcing a delay while the plane had to circle Silicon Valley. With traffic into Palo Alto -- "They don't really do police escorts quite like Tuscaloosa," Fowler says -- the pair made it minutes before kickoff.

"And there’s no backup plan," Fowler says. "John Saunders, Mack Brown, and Danny Kanell would’ve been calling it from a monitor in Bristol. That was definitely a sign that we should probably not plan it that way."

The Gophers have a really long way to go then because Northwestern hasn't went to a bowl game since 2012 and I don't think anyone will argue that they even remotely resemble anything that could be considered a national name or a "big dog".

The conversation was around rankings and how you had to let the first few weeks unfold. He mentioned the big ten west teams that won. tOSU also plays MN this year not the other teams mentioned.

Earlier in the weekend Herbstriet did say you can't judge TCU too harshly as they were playing against perhaps the 3rd best defense in college football.

Idiotic comments, but I wouldn't mind never having to play OSU (in the regular season) again! Hopefully the Big10 listens and sticks wisconsin with them every year.

What is irritating more than anything to me is that Penn St and Michigan can crap their pants and it's still assumed they are superior and will rise to elite within the conference. It indirectly promotes some programs over others, repeatedly.

The OSU VT radio call- they mentioned that no BCS team has gone undefeated 2 seasons in a row since 1933-1935 when it was done by the Minnesota Golden Gophers.

He really said that? He called the Gophers the 3rd best defense in the country?

Listening to Mike and Mike this AM while dropping off the kids. Big Mike gave us an indirect compliment, comparing TCU's 7-point loss to Minnesota to OSU's 7-point loss to Minnesota last year. Basically saying that TCU is tough and we can't be quick to judge on their "bad win."

At least I think there was an indirect compliment buried in there.

It is kind of funny listening to the hate TCU is getting for barely beating us. Last year tOSU didn't get the same hate for barely beating us at home.

Because it was snowing. I think they played in 6 feet of snow, or at least that is how some made it seem.

It's like the thread on what will Friday's morning headlines say. I didn't post but felt all along it would be either; Minnesota not quite up to the task, or TCU overrated. And so it goes.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I swear there was a lot of hate and skepticism about Ohio State for having such a close game against Minnesota. I think it was enough hate that Urban Meyer flat out said in a press conference that he would challenge any team in the country to come play a game at Minnesota in November and see how tough it is.

IRC, that was a glorious statement.

Think he said he'd pay for any team that wanted to.

No one has mentioned Danny Kanell. When predicting TCU to win on one of the Thursday pre-game shows, he cited that Minnesota was "struggling". Struggling?!?! No one had even played a snap yet!

Just for that I'm glad that Bo Jackson kicked him out of his competition.

Blame it on Dilly Bar Dan. The national fans got distracted, ergo not as much hate for tOSU.

Wouldn't read anything into it. More of the "best players in the country" comment that poor color guys toss out anytime any player makes a good play. To be honest I think he meant in the big ten, but he did say country.

Actually that's the first time I didn't mute Herbstreidt

A request....would you guys please stop putting the low case "t" in front of OSU. That THE Ohio State is sickening to me. THE my arse. Please don't buy into it.

Just cuz you're not tHalsey Hall.

Well, I can say that the announcing crew gave the Gophers more credit than the B10 and Beyond last night. A lot of SEC teams got more coverage than the Gophers. The only note was that Rodney Smith broke out and "had more yards and carries than Robert Williams". Yeah...Nice.

But they also counted Iowa's win against FCA SIU as a surprise win.

The small t in front of OSU started with Michigan fans to mock all those people that call Ohio St, The Ohio State University. If you ever watch Sunday Night Football, when players introduce themselves, its never Ohio State, its The...
