Since you are the master of all things Tubby, can you tell us what his record is over the last 10 games of the season during his career?

Tubby was not one to make many changes in the starting lineups at Kentucky, but the pressure at UK is 100x greater than at Minnesota, so he may do make changes more quickly here.

Guessing somewhere between 7 and 8 W out of the last 10 games. Let me research it 4 U.

And if he ever makes changes to the line up?

Yes. He did so dramatically in 2001 season. UK started 3-5 so Tubby inserted Gerald Fitch into the starting lineup. UK finished 21-5 the rest of the way.

Also UK struggled in mid-season 2006 so he juggled the lineup then. Results not so good.

UK players Desmond Allison, Keith Bogans, and Chuck Hayes were all mid-season changes to the UK lineup in 1999, 2000, and 2002.

He changed the lineup in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, and 2006 in mid-season each of those years.

The 1998, 2003, 2004, and 2005 seasons did not have major lineup changes. Each was #1 seed or #2 seed in NCAA tourney.

No major changes in 2007 either.

His UK record in final 10 games of regular season:

8-2 (1998)
6-4 (1999)
7-3 (2000)
8-2 (2001)
7-3 (2002)
10-0 (2003)
9-1 (2004)
8-2 (2005)
5-5 (2006)
5-5 (2007)

73-27 (73%) in Last 10 Games Of Regular Season at UK.

His record (at UK) in SECT postseason tourney games: 20-5.

His record (at UK) in NCAA tourney games: 23-9.

Combined, he was 43-14 (75%) in postseason games at UK.

7-3 at Georgia in 1996. 1-1 in SECT and 2-1 in NCAA.

Also 7-3 at Georgia in 1997. 3-1 in SECT and 0-1 in NCAA.

So 14-6 (70%) in Last 10 Games at Georgia. And 6-4 in postseason games there.

Sorry, Tulsa is a little tougher to research. Here's some 411 from 1994 and 1995 seasons:

1994 = 15-3 in conference play. Last 10 games are all in conference so (presumably) 8 of 10.

1995 = also 15-3 in conference. Ditto on last 10 games (in conference) so (again) 8 of 10.

Both years, 2-1 in NCAA games (4-2 overall, 67%) at Tulsa.

In all fairness, Tubby is facing the Big Ten with only one recruiting class of his own. It might be a bit too soon to start looking for his career's late-season trends.

His Tulsa teams in 1993-94-95 (not 1992), his Georgia team in 1997 (not 1996), and his UK teams from 2000 thru 2007 (not 1998 or 99) were predominately his own recruits.

His Gopher team in 2008 had none of his recruits. His 2010 team will be mostly his recruits.

>>His 2010 team will be mostly his recruits.<<

Yes, but they will be frosh and sophs. I think we should patiently wait for 2011 to see a mature roster playing real Tubby Smith basketball.

No more luck on Last 10 Games stats at Tulsa. Over 4 years, his TU teams were 52-20 in conference play. That's 72.2% overall, so that's 29-11 applied (in proportion) to last 10 games.

His TU teams were 5-3 in postseason conference games.

So OVERALL his teams are 5-5 (last year at Minnesota), 73-27 (at UK), 14-6 (at Georgia), and 29-11 (estimated at Tulsa) in Last 10 Games stat. That's about 7 of 10 over 17 years.

OVERALL his teams are 31-11 (74%) in postseason conference tourney games. And 29-14 (67%) in NCAA or NIT postseason games.

All-in-all, his teams win about 70% of their games in Last 10 Games, postseason conference tourney, and NCAA or NIT games.

Found the info on Jerry Palm's site

1994: Tulsa was 8-2 over the final 10 of the regular season (losses at Bradley to Coach Mo and one at Illinois State. Bradley loss was good, ISU probably neither good nor bad as that team finished fourth in the league) and 1-1 in the MVC tournament.
1995: Tulsa was 8-2 over the final 10 of the regular season (one good loss at S. Ill., one home loss to sub-.500 Drake) and 2-1 in the MVC tournament.
