Former Purdue star comes out as bisexual

We aren’t necessarily past LGBT issues especially in men’s sports but you are correct that if say, Aaron Rodgers were to come out he would still be the star QB of the Packers. Just like if Cam Newton had led the kneeling instead of Kap, Cam would still be an NFL starter.

Or, people would think Cam is an ignorant dip**** agitator instead of Kaep.

Maybe so. But my point is that he’s talented enough that the Panthers or some other team would deal with it. Kap lost his job to Blaine Gabbert on a bad 49ers team.

I believe it's been established that roughly 4% of the population is non-hetero. How many professional athletes are there in the USA? Can we just assume that 4% of that number is practicing some alternative method of sexual gratification and stop with the public out-comings?

Coming out publicly among male athletes in team sports is still very rare. It’s not like there’s been so many we’re sick of it already.

This was the first male I’ve heard of in sports to come out as Bi too. We deal with our own set of stuff and I related to his experiences straddling two worlds.

I think most people would be far more accepting of an openly LGBTQ+ player than a guy that purposefully disrespects a cultural touchstone anthem ceremony (even if you don’t care the adult thing is to recognize it’s important to a whole lot of other people), a flag, a country; and displays open prejudice vs law enforcement as a whole (not just the rotten ones) that many/most fans understand aren’t perfect but support because they have ridiculously difficult jobs.

If he had just done the kneel, voiced support for the wrongly convicted (yes it’s an issue) and the known handful of illegal police shootings and kept his mouth shut about how awful everything and everybody is he might seem brighter, more of a bridge builder, and garner wider support outside of the fringe. As it is people have hardened their positions and minds. He might still have a job as well.

Looks like a good OP for a new thread?

Another award winning post on a football message board....

Looking at your post history, do you honestly just browse GopherHole & wait to comment on social issues?

What did you think of the offensive line & linebacker play last night? I care more about that than you lumping people into a group of what they do or do not believe, especially on a football message board.

I think it was pretty gay. What do you think

I was thinking you were talking about App. State, but they love their goats more than female humans.

Excuse me? I know they are different. But it's important to know. Is he non-binary bi-sexual? Does he identify as a woman who is attracted to men and women or as a man? Or is he they? Talk about an ignorant comment.

I was thinking the same thing. +1 for El Deuce.

I know I'm in the minority on this, but I always thought Kap did that to keep himself from getting cut. Would have been terrible look by the niners. Why else, have a 16 million dollar back up who apparently couldn't beat out Blaine Gabbert for a job. Worked out for him, got forty Mill from the league, ton of money from that Nike campaign and this odd perception that he's still good enough to start in the league when someone gets hurt or retires.

Who cares???
This where I am at. I just don't care what sexual attraction a person identifies with.
Is the person kind, respectful, hard working and an encouragement to others? That's what I care about. Who s/he is attracted to is basically meaningless.
