Former Mr. football Emmett Johnson in the portal.

supposedly they have 150 kids that were with the program this year in some capacity (this is listed on their team roster on the school website). they're gonna have to trim a bit
Ya, eliminating walk-ons is sad. Wrecking a lot of kids dreams. And I'm guessing a lot of them went on to lead very successful lives through the experience they lived.

The Gophers had expectations that Mo, Bucky, Ky Thomas all would be back and already had a commitment from Zach Evans so it might have just been a situation there wasn't room for him even if they liked him. His best offer until Nebraska came in very late was Western Kentucky.
Man, I forgot about Zach Evans and had to look him up after reading your post. He ended up at North Texas, was suspended the first two games of the year, got a few carries in the next two games, and has no stats the rest of the year. Man, I was bummed when he transferred but it became clear after they landed Major that Evans would’ve gotten almost zero run this year. Turns out, he got almost zero run at UNT.

Emmett Johnson fits current Gopher RB mode: He is an effective, hard-nosed runner and has a lot of quality receptions out of the backfield. Very good receiver. Finishing up his sophomore season in the B1G and easily at the Marcus Major level, IMHO. Would have another year of eligibility after DT, presumably, leaves for NFL after 2025 season. Minneapolis kid. I think he'd be a great fit if he's interested in coming back home. Who knows?

Nebraska must of found some money lying around.
