I attended the UNLV – Boise State game about 10 days ago. Our seats are right behind the visitors bench and I saw that former Gopher Tim Socha is doing well as Boise’s head strength coach http://www.broncosports.com/ViewArt...=C&DB_OEM_ID=9900&ATCLID=537379&Q_SEASON=2011
I have never met Tim, but am sure that he is a great person. However, I feel compelled to say that he was completely obnoxious during the game, and hard not to notice – quickly pacing the sideline, constantly telling players to back away from the sideline, waving his arms above his head trying to inspire the Boise fans..... He’s been there 6 years so he is clearly doing a good job, but IMHO he should avoid being a distraction during the game.

Alot of head coaches have a designated assistant to be their "sidelines guy" who's job is to do exactly what you wrote.

I knew Tim from college and I can tell you that Socha is a class guy. He has a big personality and can be very intense.

The others are right, it is not uncommon for that to happen for the sideline guy and it is usually the strength and conditioning coach which Tim is as well.

Tim's the cousin of one of my friends. Great people. Never say anything bad about people from Ashwaubenon, WI.

Tim's a great guy. Didn't know he was at Boise State. Good for him!
