Fleck: This is still a developmental program. Year nine has nothing to do with it. Every year is its own entity. We lost nine NFL players last year…

Time will tell. In my opinion this is who will get drafted in 2027 and who might have a chance.

Drafted
Anthony Smith
Kerry Brown

Maybe
Darius Taylor
Greg Johnson
TJ Bush
Maverick Baranowski
John Nestor

Most of these guys played on the team two years ago that was a pop up year in drafted and meaningful UDFA. So if these guys are really talented that implies that team was possibly even more stacked.

It would be interesting if someone pieced together drafted and UDFA that stick in the NFL for all players that were on the Gophers for any particular season (i.e guys that were drafted within 4-5 years that all played on the same Gophers team for at least one season). Probably the only way to gauge how much high-end talent there is/was. That wouldn't factor in players learning, growing, and improving though.

Mason was absolutely corrrect when he made that observation.

What year is Michigan in this year? PSU? Are all tOSU teams equal from year to year? Is Alabama always on an upward trend from year to year with no set backs?

Fleck is correct in his observation in the year 2026. In fact, in the year of college football 2026 his statement is more true than it ever has been.

Do ANY college football fans in Indiana actually believe that they will remain the #1 ranked football team in the nation year after year? How many B1G teams go 13-0…12-1…11-2 or even 10-3 every year?

For Minnesota B1G football, being in a developmental state is the way it is.

We College football fans are just so damn full of ourselves sometimes…. ;0)

Unless Kerry Brown is a first round pick in the 2027 draft, does he stick around for his senior year? We all know Anthony Smith has a really good chance of being a first round pick.
I also think if Baranowski and Nestor have All-Big 10 seasons, they will get drafted.

No doubt Taylor, Johnson, Bush, Tracy, Jennings have a chance but more than likely they are undrafted free agent candidates. A lot can happen by having a great senior season.

2028 draft possibilities could be Lindsey, Menz, Roy and Brown.

I do not think Maverick Baranowski gets drafted. UDFA at best. I don't think he will test or measure well at all. Lack of speed is a major issue for him. He is an older (redshirt senior), high effort, high intelligence, maxed out college player.

He reminds me of his coach, Mariano Sori-Marin, who was also a UDFA, but didn't make a team.

I think he's more athletic than you are giving him credit for. Will be interesting to see how he tests at pro day or the combine.
