Somebody has not been doing his FT homework!

Brilliant strategy by Welch to miss those free throws. Kidding. Happy with the win, but concerned about the relapse to last part of the B1G season, playing not to lose, indecisive with the ball etc. Can certainly point to the refs as part of the problem, but the last five minutes of regulation was pretty bad basketball. That said, Dre's a stud and a star. So much fun to watch his development this year, and yes, Orlando deserves some credit for that.

Gophers did their best to piss it away. Tubby really needs to teach his team how to preserve a win. There were some bad calls to be sure, but biggest problem was late game execution. Dre Hollins came to town and bailed out Tubby and his staff.

Wash tried to 'pull' this one out, but Dre wouldn't let them. Gophers wouldn't have won this game in Jan or Feb.

I applaud good play; Dre is phenomenal. What were the plus/minus ratios of anyone else in the 2nd half?

Also in that last 5 minutes we saw the difference between a more passive Rodney (foul trouble) and the man who could have finished inside. Narrow escape against at least a mid level B1G quality opponent.

I haven't paid attention to much Pac12 suck basketball this year, and zero to stanford but here is my game preview:

Welch is true to form and cannot hit a clutch FT. It is great to win but to play so poorly makes it less so.

Is Julian significantly injured? If so, then I regret the following....but, he really needs to sit until he starts playing with some energy. At least play Chip or something instead of Julian - Chip makes some bad decisions but at least he puts out effort. Half the time I swear Julian is playing like he's high as a kite and just lost. He needs to grow up quick by next year or he should lose the rest of the dwindling minutes he has remaining. Perhaps Wally shouldn't be redshirting after all next year.

I really think the team was very tired by the end of the game. Most of the starters played over 30 minutes by the end of regulation; more by the end of overtime. Dre was a stud - Rodney got much more tentative after his 4th foul (for good reason) but Rodney tentative is like Rodney of 2010 - not the asset you need him to be. Dre still hasn't hit a game-winner or buzzer beater (that I can remember), but it won't be long. He shoulda been shooting 2 FTs with 6 seconds left in OT, but that said, 6 seconds is a lot of time for UW to shoot the game-tying or -winning shot, so perhaps a blessing in disguise.

EE had a rougher game than usual, but really not too bad. His hustle was a nice asset. Ingram played his 2nd-best game as a Gopher, and brought much-needed minutes. I wish we had Oto available for the final; it's not clear how we'll win if EE gets in foul trouble again. Coleman was quiet today, but I think he's getting unfairly blamed for that late turnover, it's pretty obvious it was the pull on Dre's jersey that caused the turnover more than anything else. Austin has been ok - but I don't think he's being as aggressive as he should be; he's turning into a 3-point specialist and I think he could be more than that.
