First CFP Ranking Released Nov.5

Big day in America tomorrow as the first CFP will be released. Can't wait to see all the bias in the polls for the SEC and B1G. Yes they are the better conferences, but certain schools continue to be ranked by the logo on the helmet.

How will 9-0 Indiana be treated? How would PSU or tOSU be ranked with the same schedule and record?
How will 9-0 Miami be treated?
How will 8-0 BYU be treated?
Georgia- One loss and a couple struggles
LSU- lost to a 4-5 USC team.
Notre Dame lost to a 4-4 MAC team
Let's remember that Vanderbilt lost to 2-6 Sun Belt Team

Will they account for teams that have 8 games played vs 9 games?

Wins should be rewarded. You can't speculate on if a team overlooked a team or if you think they are better than their 2 loss record. The poll should reward zero losses and strength of losses.

Almost would support going back to commuters picking the teams. Eye test means bias. In an age of parity you really have to look at who survives their schedule the best.

No way Indiana will be ranked this highly with no ranked wins. Even the B1G bias won't let them rank a team top 3 in the nation with 0 ranked wins. They do deserve to be top 10 and marginally top 5 currently.

Mediocre teams at best. Yes they have double degit wins in most of them. But a ranking in the top 10???? Please. We weren’t ranked in the top 10 until we beat Penn f-ing State!!!! Back in 19.
Wouldn’t surprise me if they storm the field if they take meechigan down. Another now mediocre team.

If they keep it close with the Bucknuts then they are legit. Otherwise. Slow your roll committee.

Indiana being treated like 2019 MN.

However many are comparing them to Michigan last year for resume. Michigan had 18 draft picks on that roster. So I can’t go that far. I’m more in the TCU or Washington feel for Indiana at this time.

They will be top 8 I believe tonight.

The rankings are compounding errors of circular logic on top of guesswork on top of groupthink. I guess they’re ok to argue about but…some teams play better by seasons end, some worse. The nice thing is this playoff system will not leave out as many worthy teams as before.

I agree with all of this. All the old problems are the old problems but the problems will affect seeding more than putting two SEC teams in the championship over Stanford and ok state

And they’re all getting close to being locks unless they drop a game to someone who they’ll be favored to beat by 2 scores. Indy still in if they lose to OSU. OSU can lose to Indy. Oregon could probably lose 2 games and still be fine. PSU can definitely absorb one more loss unless they get embarrassed. Clearly they’ve decided with this the top of the big ten is the best of the best with really no one else near from within the conference

Boise State has a win over No. 21 Washington State, but its schedule is ranked No. 83 in The Athletic’s strength of schedule metric. Boise State has an excellent loss — 37-34 at the highest-ranked team, Oregon — and a solid win at UNLV. But this feels closer than it should be, considering both the 18-15 BYU win at SMU and the 38-9 rout of Kansas State, which came in No. 19 in the initial rankings.

Also, those two wins should put BYU ahead of No. 8 Indiana. Those two wins should put BYU ahead of No. 4 Miami.

BYU’s strength of schedule is No. 63. That’s better than Miami’s 65 and Indiana’s 83. ESPN has IU at 103. To be clear, those schedule strength numbers are not the same ones used by the committee, which are not shared publicly.

But go with the wins. Miami’s best is a wild 52-45 decision at No. 22 Louisville. Indiana has nothing on the board right now in terms of top-25 teams.

But (BYU) undefeated with a 29-point win over the No. 19 team, plus a road win over No. 13? That’s a top-five resume at this point. And that’s what we’re doing here, right?

I think Indiana is where it is based a lot on margin of victory. Smallest so far has been 14 points.

Yeah it’s fair on PSU. Just a little surprised they went so bullish on PSU given they haven’t beaten anyone and it gets harder to move these teams substantially though to try say the committee will use any sensical logic is perhaps foolish on my part
