Lol, the tournament didn't start until 1948. It should still be one every 5 years.
If I add up all those years from 1948 until now and divide by 5, I am still closer to my answer than yours. So the answer is 15.4 years. I hate to break it to you.

You both are geniuses...

It's been once ever 15 years. That's not enough.

Once every 5 ain't gonna happen.

At least one every 10 is a fair target. It's been 23. Completely unacceptable.

I'm only a hockey rooter come finals time....factor that in if you want.
It is not his age...it is his coaching philosophy or approach. When you have superior talent you can't play not to lose. Tying your players hands behind their backs to stall out the clock is the wrong strategy. Let the big dogs hunt. Most aggressive team wins.
It is not the players choking...the coach is setting them up for failure.
Inferior talent you limit the possessions/superior talent you play fast.

Your first sentence shows you don't pay attention to the team.
If I am off by a year, at my age, that is like 15 minutes. If I skipped a year, at my age, doesn't matter. Your comment shows me you haven't arrived at "old" yet.

15 vs 15.4, sure. Rounding rules. Blecch.

I wasn't talking about 15 vs 15.4. Just stating that a title every 15 years is unacceptable for a "blue blood" program. But as of now we are behind DU, UND, UM historically and it's getting hard to argue we're ahead of uw, BC, and BU anymore. uw is a mess but at least they have 6. Especially if BU wins it this year.

The Motzko 2023 choke killed a part of my love for sports and I haven't felt something like that since 1998 when I was just a kid watching the Vikings. This was worse.

Throughout the history of Minnesota Men's Ice Hockey, the program has experienced 16 seasons with losing records. The most recent losing season occurred in 2010, marking 15 years since their last such performance. Statistically speaking, a losing season might be overdue for a program of this stature, considering that no team, even among the elite "blue bloods," is immune to setbacks. The issue lies in the mindset that perpetual success is the norm for a program of this caliber. In reality, every blue blood program on your list has faced losing records at some point. This highlights a common human trait—our aspirations often surpass the limits of reality. Learning to embrace occasional disappointment might be a more grounded approach.

And, the number remains 15.4.

The true blue blood programs in any sport take failure hard and then make changes to right the ship. They don’t shrug their shoulders and say oh well everyone fails sometimes like you are suggesting. That is why they remain blue bloods.
