ROAD TO SELECTION SUNDAY, MN – Championship Week has arrived.
The Horizon League kicks things off tonight with the 10-11 game, #11 seed IU-Indianapolis (7-24) @ #10 Cleveland State (10-21). Outside of the first weekend of the NCAA Tournament, these next two weeks are my favorite part of the college basketball season. It’s a worthy precursor to March Madness, the final exam.
But first, there’s still a bracket to build. Here’s how the projected Field of 68 projection looks just under two weeks shy of Selection Sunday. There are five new teams in the field, highlighted by at-larges Ohio State and VCU. The Buckeyes finally got the marquee win their resume sorely lacked beating Purdue in Columbus, now the question becomes, can they hold on to their spot down the stretch? Previous at-larges Auburn and USC dropped out of the field.
Automatic qualifiers in multiple-bid conferences (noted with an *) hold the best conference record, are the highest remaining seed in their conference tournament or, in the event of a tie, has the best NET ranking (in parentheses).
