For now I have three conferences getting 7 bids. ... the ACC, Big East and Big 10. In the end I suspect one of these conferences will get 8 bids, most likely the ACC. The Big 10 is still staring at a most-likely scenario of 6 bids, with 7 still a definite possibility. Gophers will be a lock if they win 2 of their 3 remaining regular-season games.

NOTES
***The following non-BCS teams currently are in play for an at-large bid if they fail to win their conference tournament: Utah (11), Xavier (14), Butler (20), Siena (26), Utah State (28), Dayton (29), BYU (30), Temple (35), UAB (39), Gonzaga (40), San Diego State (47), Creighton (48), UNLV (50), St. Mary's (51) & Rhode Island (68). Notably absent from this list is Davidson. Steph Curry's team is not a viable at-large candidate if it fails to win the SoCon Tournament title.

***Jerry Palm (CollegeRPI.com) updated his bracket this morning, and he currently has the Gophers as the #7 seed in the East Region playing #10 seed BYU in Greensboro. The top-seeded teams Palm has coming to Minneapolis for the 1st and 2nd rounds are Marquette and Wake Forest.

***Most significant game of the week for a bubble team?. ... UAB absolutely, positively MUST BEAT Memphis on Thursday if it wants to be considered a legitimate at-large candidate. Minus a win over Memphis, the Blazers' resume won't be strong enough to merit consideration. The Blazers' only significant scalp to date is a NIT Season Tip-Off win at Arizona.

SS,

Curious where Palm has the Badgers seeded. Thanks.

Great stuff as usual.

Badgers

GV,

Palm has Badgers as the #9 seed in the West Region playing #8 Dayton in Greensboro.

Greensboro Would Be Neat Location For Tubby

He has lots of Friends & Family in or near the Greensboro area.

And Gopher fans would like that Southwest Airlines flies there, hence low priced fares are available.

Penn State on the road on Tuesday at Ohio State is a HUGE game for both teams. Should be fun to see.
