Get Evans, Patterson and one BIG 5!

After looking into this, I think this is a really good addition. Now if Patterson does commit, then they need another 5 for sure. Maybe even 2 5s with one more likely like Jack and only called upon a little bit.

Ken Evans Jr., Patterson and Trey Edmonds to fill out the roster would make the Gophers better than last season
Be surprised if Evans is still interested here with all the commits of Guards and Odukale. Thinking Patterson, Edmonds, and like a Ryan Mutombo would really help. Mutombo didn't play too many minutes in Georgetown but would be a veteran that could be used for extra depth and injuries. Would also bring a 7'2 to help matchup with many of the other 7 footers now in the BIG. Seems like every team is getting one.

Does Ryan finger wag as well?

Dikembe is universally beloved guy and would be good to have him be a part of the program as well.

So Big Frank is our 5
Garcia our 4
Femi Odukale our 3
Caleb Williams our 2
and the incoming Patterson is our point
That leaves Mitchell to be our 6th man off the bench.
and Rigsby our 7th man on the perimeter.
Fox backing up down low
Betts, Asuma and Groves cheering.
Be nice to have a shooter or scorer to push Williams to a backup (like Ken Evans Jr) and as others have said we need a 5 like Trey Edmonds. I think Williams is better than Mitchell given an equal opportunity.
That'd be 13

Yeah sadly I agree with you. I am guessing that they were having trouble pinning down Evans for a visit and went the Odukale route. We needed his size and athleticism badly. While Odukale is not the shooter I would like to see, it appears that he is a great defensive player with size and I really like that.
We are going to have to win with defense. Despite all of the spin here that we will have more talent than last year if we get Patterson- that is just spin. The loss of Payne, Christie and Hawkins is major. However, we could still be better than last year if we fit better as a team and play better defense.

Odukale and Mitchell were both sub 50% free throw shooters last year.... so that's a challenging thing to work around.

We very likely will not have as talented of a starting lineup. The problem this past season was that there was nothing behind the starters and Fox. Eventually, that took a toll on the starters. At least so far it looks like Ben is trying to have fewer dead spots in the rotation.

I like this commit, and I don't mind this team once we lock down the Patterson commit.

Add 1 more post. Make it a good one.

Betts might be able to give us something this year as well.

We're going to be more talented, more experienced and deeper at guard than we were last year.

Evans and Patterson alone make the roster better than last year. Edmonds icing on the cake.

I think you are correct that, in the absence of more guard additions, Williams will give M. Mitchell real competition for playing time.

Well traveled.

The kid is athletic, quick and has size. Some great video out there on him, he has some pretty nice highlight reel plays.

Better than Hawkins & Christie??

We are LITERALLY a minor-league team. A prep-team for the paying programs.

I guess hope really springs eternal. Like if a guy scores 1 point in 43 minutes...we fantasize that he's an incredible lockdown defender.
