Dribbles & Scribbles
-- Wednesday night in Brookings, SD vs. South Dakota State is a very LARGE game for St. Thomas if the Tommies have any designs on grabbing at least a share of the Summit League regular season championship. The Tommies already trail North Dakota State by two games in the standings, and the Bison get a pair of home games (Denver & Omaha) this week. The Toms have never won in Brookings since the move to Division I and falling three games behind NDSU with six games to play would be a tough ask. However, if UST can hang around, the Bison's season-ending stretch is daunting. In its final five games, NDSU plays North Dakota twice, as well as the Tommies and South Dakota State on the road.

-- North Dakota State has yet to play a Quad 1 or Quad 2 opponent. St. Thomas (0-1 vs. Q1, 0-2 vs. Q2) has played three, @ #32 Saint Mary's, @ #118 NDSU, and @ #132 Washington State.

-- Stephen F. Austin defeated preseason favorite McNeese 67-60 to take a stranglehold on the Southland Conference race. The Lumberjacks now have a two-game lead on the Cowboys.

-- Adrian Autry's seat is getting sizzling hot in Syracuse. The third-year Orangemen coach is 47-41 and has yet to sniff the postseason. Let's be honest, Syracuse belongs in the Big East.

-- These top 50 NET teams have suffered Quad 3 and/or Quad 4 losses: #23 Saint John's (1 Q3), #26 NC State (1 Q3), #27 Utah State (1 Q3), #33 Villanova (1 Q3), #36 Georgia (1 Q3), #38 Miami-Florida (1 Q3), #39 Texas (1 Q3), #42 New Mexico (1 Q3), #44 Santa Clara (1 Q4), #45 San Diego State (1 Q3), and #46 Tulsa (1 Q3). Quad 3 losses aren't all that uncommon, obviously, but if you're sitting squarely on the bubble with a Quad 4 loss on Selection Sunday, be afraid, be very afraid.

Deep Thoughts, by Buzz Studley
I have yet to see Oral Roberts (2-19 vs. D1 opponents) play in person. But despite sitting winless in the Summit League and south of Kansas City in the league standings, I can't envision any scenario where the Golden Eagles are worse than the Kansas City Roos. The Roos were one of the worst D1 teams I've ever seen when they visited Saint Paul on Sunday. ... and I've witnessed the horror that is Chicago State basketball.
