Will always remember the Coyotes visit to TCF in 2010...

I told Mrs. Billd after that one that Coach B was on double secret probation after that loss. The $$$ alumni cannot tolerate losses to the Dakota schools, especially any that aren't Bisons...

Back to the OP, good football being played at that level in this part of the country.

My daughter is a Jackrabbit so that's who I'm pulling for.

It feels like there's something to the set of teams on top of FCS

5 of the top 8 seeds are from lightly recruited states (Dakotas, Montana, Idaho)

The rest of the bracket also has lightly recruited states heavily represented...Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Central Connecticut State, Montana.

I know we're not looking to load up on FCS players at Minnesota, but are the Gophers and other schools missing some dudes in these states?

It's long been my theory that a 2nd/3rd tier guy in Texas or Florida or Georgia ends up a MAC school or somewhere like Minnesota, where his talent equivalent in Minnesota or the Dakotas ends up playing FCS. All about scouts showing up and knowing you exist.

That “top 4” is telling. As the only real competition has bolted for the FBS, it’s become an effective regional sport. As the FBS playoffs expanded/expands, it is likely that broad FCS interest will wane further. Sorry, but, yawn.

I'm guessing most schools with student enrollment over 10,000 and good football programs have moved on to FBS if there's a viable conference in their geography. The schools in the OP are on the bubble but the geography isn't appealing for FBS. It also makes you wonder why Mankato is still D2 when its bigger than all but Montana State.

I specifically remember Billy Turner, All-Stater, Mounds View (?), went to NDSU Zander was two time AA and third round pick, whose still playing in the League.

There’s always going to be players you miss on and since he didn’t go to another D1 school, maybe he developed a ton there🤷‍♂️

Yes but

Montana state beat New Mexico by 4
NDSU lost to Colorado
South Dakota lost to Wisconsin
SDSU lost to Oklahoma state

So like, if we got all the best of the FCS we would probably be good enough to be about .500 in FBS. Which already are
