Fall Scrimmage

Weber made 2nd team all-conference once. How many conference games did we win that year?

Adam Weber 2008 2nd team all Big Ten. 3-5 in conference.

From 2007 to 2008 statistically Weber was roughly the 4th best QB in the conference so he didn't need the type of improvement that Gray will need as statistically the 10th best QB in 2011 to get up to point of being considered for all-conference honors.

Gray is going to have to put up huge numbers this year while Weber put up slightly better numbers in 2008 and his team went from 0 conferences wins to 3. Will this team aprove on their conference wins by 3? Highly unlikely.

Gray will be All-Big Ten, at least 2nd team, possibly 1st team. He is an absolute monster and the difference in both his appearance and play is night-and-day from last year. I would guess that he's pushing 260 (his build reminded me of Daunte in his prime with the Vikes) and still runs like a deer. Athletes of his caliber don't come to Minnesota very often, and the biggest shame is that he will only have 2 years to start at QB. The backup QBs threw several picks and generally made poor decisions, but I honestly can't recall one bad throw or decision that Gray made. He looked extremely sharp.

My, that is quite impressive, especially against LSU's tremendous defense. Hmm? What's that you say? Minnesota's defense? While wearing a no-contact jersey? Has there been an NCAA rule change that prevents QBs from being hit by opposing defenses? If so, I'd have to agree that Gray is poised for a spectacular season, and no doubt yet another national championship for the Gophers.

Hearty congratulations,
Archie

Time will tell Archie, but one thing is for sure. You won't be back here in December if it happens. Enjoy watching {insert University Name here} former QB this year in Madison.

Your bit is growing old. You should throttle it back to your 5-10 post per year level from before last week.

Now, how can you go and say such a thing? I've already celebrated the three championships you've added so far this year, why wouldn't I be back for the fourth?

I'm sure you'll be back here to tell us that Stanford is a public university. What an idiot!

I've never seen a fan base that has accumulated so many championships in one year behave so out of sorts. Cheer up, even if by some miracle you don't win the national championship this season, you're already ahead by three!

Enthusiastically yours,
Archie

I for one think Archie brings a warm, old-timey glow to the board that is quite enjoyable.

Remember when this obsessive stalker used to argue that he wasn't a troll?

Explain how you came to the conclusion that he was the 10th best QB statistically in 2011.

Based on his passing stats rank taking into consideration Passing Yards per game, Completion %, total passing yards, passing TD and QB rating his average rank is 10th.

You can argue that his rushing stats should be considered and that is valid. Including these still would not put his average rank in these stats in the top have of the conference.

My point still being that he is going to have to significantly improve in the passing game and the team will have to improve their conference win total for him to be considered for at least 2nd team all-conference.

It would do more than slightly improve his QB rating. He led all QB's in rushing in conference games. In conference games, Gray accounted for 227 yards per game (3rd in the Big 10). I'm not saying that he was the third best QB in the Big 10 last year, but when you evaluate a QB like Gray you need to factor in running every bit as much as passing.

Robert,

If there is one defining characteristic of Gopher fans, it's long memories.

Cheers,
Archie

This joke doesn't really work, logically.

Most of us were not alive when these National Championships were won, so they couldn't really be memories. But you're a bit who used to come on here pretending to just be one a normal Badger troll who is obsessed with Gopher football. We all realized it was an obvious sign that your life was lacking but I don't think we had any idea the depths of your loserdom. I remember telling you that you were a sax away from being Pantherhawk, but I was wrong, you are much worse than him.

For all of his loser antics, he at least has pride in himself. If he's going to troll, at least he does it as himself. You hide behind bits like a SO in HS trolling youtube. You argued constantly about how you weren't a troll, how your life wasn't lacking outside of the message boards and how it wasn't bizarre for a Badger fan to be on this board to talk football. You could have simply just posted a message on here admitting that we were right. You don't have to go through all this to admit to having a waste of a life.

I hope you wake up tomorrow morning, take a shower, ask to borrow your mother's car and go out and see the world a little bit. It isn't as scary as it looks out there. Eventually you could maybe meet some people to socialize with in the real world and eventually, I imagine your burning obsession to stalk the Gophers will go away. You can get over this hurdle and meet a friend or two. You can still root for your team and even have a friendly joke or two with Gopher fans. But I promise you, if you crawl out of the hole of pathetic loserdom, you'll have no desire to troll a Gopher football message board.

Good luck to you and thanks for admitting that I was right all along by creating this bit.
