Fake slide, my opinion right now is that the rule should be changed

I get that we want to protect the quarterback. However, a quarterback can't have it both ways. As far as I'm concerned, the ball is put right where the head fakes if you decide to pull a fast one on the defense. Am I wrong on this take without a lot of thought?
 


My issue is this. The rule is that the ball is marked where the QB STARTED their slide. So shouldn't the ball be dead when they START their slide? That would be hard to judge except on replay but maybe it should be noted that way and be a reviewable play by the booth.
 


The QB should be ejected for fake sliding since we eject a DB for hitting a QB who is sliding

It is if you hit him in the head or neck area

aka the only area available if the QB is in a slide

which is why the wake DB pulled up
