Fake slide, my opinion right now is that the rule should be changed

I get that we want to protect the quarterback. However, a quarterback can't have it both ways. As far as I'm concerned, the ball is put right where the head fakes if you decide to pull a fast one on the defense. Am I wrong on this take without a lot of thought?

If you have the ball - you are fair game. Anything less only cheapens the game.

My issue is this. The rule is that the ball is marked where the QB STARTED their slide. So shouldn't the ball be dead when they START their slide? That would be hard to judge except on replay but maybe it should be noted that way and be a reviewable play by the booth.

If the QB makes any type of move initiating a slide, play should be blown dead and ball spotted at the point of the initiation. Period!

It is if you hit him in the head or neck area

aka the only area available if the QB is in a slide

which is why the wake DB pulled up
