I can understand refs not being ready to call it, nobody had tried pulling something like that.

I agree. That was something that was bound to happen eventually. Smart play by the QB....no question. He got the defenders to freeze....and it gave him a lane. Only a QB could get away with it because of the rules meant to protect them. Glad it really didn't affect the outcome of that game (Pitt rolled WF regardless)....and I'm glad that the NCAA made a quick move to address it moving forward.

I'm still not so sure this is ONLY for QB's. Once the QB is out of the pocket, he's just like any other running back. And on the flip side, if a RB or WR goes into a slide, doesn't the same sliding rule apply?
