I stumbled upon this blog today and it's frickin excellent. I'm in love with a fringe bowl team is a gophers recruiting blog (with one of the better names I've ever heard). Dude really put his work in outlining the 2011 class.

I'm curious who he is. If he posted here he would have given himself the shout out, but if you read GH, good work dude. Anyway if you're curious who were targeting in 2011 check this out, its a great read.

I saw a link to this blog the other day at Scout. There is a long list of 2011 prospects as you mentioned. One of the prospects listed is Kenny Williams a rb out of TX. The U is one of many schools showing interest but only SMU has offered.

His highlights are impressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iYZuUn6UUQU Is it me or does it seem like the tape is sped up on a couple of plays? Regardless, he's not getting caught from behind.

Strange blog title for someone who claims to be a fan of the Gophers. I am always glad to see people with enough interest in the Gophers to post that much material, even if I don't agree with many of his opinions so far.

I don't see why, Gophers usually are a fringe bowl team whether that is on the fringe of making a bowl or going to a fringe bowl game. I think the name is fine.

Really? You don't see why? I just did a quick google search looking for any signs of a Wisconsin football or football recruiting blog with a negative title and couldn't find one.

I can't deny the (current) accuracy of the title, but I don't understand why a Gopher fan would choose it. I don't think a blog titled " I am in love with a fat woman" would go over well with someones wife/girlfriend and her friends even if the title was accurate.

The guy can call his blog anything he wants, I just don't see the point of embracing something negative about a program you follow.

He's one of the better posters and one of the most knowledgeable on Rivals. Guy does his research. Before I even clicked the link my first thought was that it was him, as he was always posting stuff like this on Rivals.

MV's new blog is strong. He puts a lot of time into accumulating recruiting info and his talent asessments are as good as any local writers. He's not a big fan of Brewster and is generally a negative (or realistic?) type when it comes to the Gophers as the blog title indicates. I hope recruits don't find the blog with that title.

I guess when I look at the title, I see more of an assessment of the past 10 years than something negatively sarcastic about our football program. Until we show signs of making a big move to the top three or four of the Big Televen on a consistent basis, this is who we are. Quite frankly, the title catches your eye, is clever, and describes the frustration with being a loyal fan and dealing with the past 50 years. I'm glad the guy has the time to invest in some in depth Gopher coverage. The more we get, the better off we are as fans.

+1 Also, the name is cool because it highlights one of the greatest things about Gopher fans. If you truly love this team, you can only do so unconditionally. And when it comes to favorite teams, if you don't love your team unconditionally then you aren't really a fan.

Impressive

This is impressive. He has really spent some time at this. I will keep reading it. There is some stuff here that I have not seen put together this way. The analysis of the 2010 recruiting class was a bit sobering, but fair.

love his writing.....but it's hard to read in maroon and gold...dam that is hard on the eyes

If you can't laugh at yourself for having such passion and dedication for a team that has probably accomplished very little in your lifetime I feel sorry for you.

Agreed. And with that unconditional Gopher football love, comes a unique perspective and a level of self-depricating humor. If you can't laugh you cry. Me, I'd rather laugh.

Good stuff. Already linked his blog within my blog, so word gets out (not that mine's all that popular). But I'm all for more people reading more about Gopher sports, any way you can get them.

bumping to give my man MV some props. He's been holding it down with real recruiting knowledge and info on GI for years

The video he posted of Tommy Olson was the first I'd seen of him. My god I couldn't get the SH%! Eatin' grin off my face! Virtually every play ended with the defender twenty or so yards from the line of scrimmage and on his ass! Not only did he dominate but he was blocking long after the play had past them. That should fit in well with Brew's mantra for 2010, FINISH.

It is pretty easy to see why some of us have been saying that he could be higher rated than Gjere isn't it. IMO the size/athleticism of Gjere (it is hard to find 6-7 300 pounders with quick feet) may give him more upside but Tommy is more ready to step in and play today. How they end up 5 years from now I don't know. I'm just glad that we've already got Gjere signed and Olson committed because they are both phenomenal prospects.

I think both of these two got overshadowed because they committed so early in the process and SH happened to let the process drag out in to a media frenzy that stole all the attention.
