Evidently, Kaliakmanis left for more NIL money

AK got more NIL at Rutgers than, let’s say, Illinois State…after already leaving. That’s the story.

Yeah as I recall it there was quite a gap between the portal announcement and Rutgers announcing. I’m pretty skeptical there was any sort of contract offer in place before he was ejected.

I remember when people here were wondering if he could even get a FCS offer, let alone end up as the starting QB at Rutgers. Rutgers was probably his only major conference opportunity given how he sat out there for over a month and finally ended up at Minnesota East with Ciarocca

Nothing about his timeline indicates that he left proactively for better opportunities, but good for him for landing in an equivalent situation

Apologies if this is old news.

(Linked to relevant timestamp -- for those interested.)

No he didn't.

edit: stuff like this is just the clowns at SKOR trying to get Gopher fans to bite. they are playing the KFAN Game only, as per usual, doing it way worse and laughably bad.

I hated watching Athan play, but wasn’t happy when he left because these guys always improve. I bet he has a great year next year and he was definitely better than I expected him to be this season.

Would not surprise me at all if Rutgers has a better offense than Minnesota next year. Still don’t think bringing in competition for Athan was a bad idea.
Chances are good he continues to improve but at this point it is fair to wonder what his ceiling is. This past season he got to throw the ball about 10 more times a game which led to more yards and what not but he also had a completion percentage hovering right around 50% just like it was when he was here and that is just not good for a D1 QB.

His 53.9% completion percentage was good for 17th best in the conference this past season just slightly above the 18th spot.

note - if you are unfamiliar with Skor North - the guy talking about AK is Thor Nystrom. he covers college football and does NFL draft coverage for a website called 'Fantasy Life" - which focuses on fantasy sports and sports gambling. Skor North promotes him as their resident NFL draft expert.

but - I will add that Skor North loves to proclaim people as "experts."
Not sure if Thor does have a reputable source within Gopher athletics or not, but I will say, his draft coverage and analysis is excellent.

His NIL was based on his completion percentage so he only got half of the original offer.
