ESPN's Brian Bennett: Let's all marvel at Minnesota

^ I only read and always go with the last post made so I have to agree, you bad ;-)

Where'd it go?

I'm not necessarily expecting it, but we're talking about the best-case scenario here. I absolutely think that involves winning two of those games. Iowa and Wisconsin have their issues.

I guess you're right, and I maybe shouldn't have used the "best case scenario" line because obviously we CAN win more than 8. I agree that Wisconsin is very beatable, but years of conditioning just has me unable to wrap my head around the Gophers going into Madison and coming out victorious.

I don't think it is far fetched to think we could go at least 2-2 in the last four games.

Agreed. Right now Minnesota would be a slight favorite over Iowa at home. Wisconsin away seems like a steep hill but they've definitely shown they are beatable. Now if they beat Ohio State at home, they'll shock the entire college football industry but I wouldn't say that's impossible.

If folks are truly p*ssed about what Bennett wrote, they need to grow some skin.

Getting irritated at this blog post does seem indicative of being wound too tight. When you have the type of program that normally few people outside the fan base talk about, any kind of favorable attention should be welcome. I don't see how any fan could expect a lot more praise from the sports writing world as the Gophers have yet to beat anyone close to being ranked in the top 25. Win the next three and win one of the last three and fans should be able to see more signs of respect in and outside of the Big Ten.

Here's how I see the rest of the season going.

Purdue - big win, Cobb runs through their lines for several of those 10+ yard runs he's so good at

Illinois - win, but close game and they give us a scare at the end before our D comes up with a big stop

Iowa - close game, but the Gophers never trail and seal the deal with a late field goal to give us a 10 point lead with only a few minutes left on the clock

Ohio St - this one gets away from the Gophers as they lose by 2+ TDs and GopherHole is filled with grumbling about how we'll never turn the corner and compete with the 'big boys'

Nebraska - tough, hard fought game but the Gophers can't capitalize on enough opportunities to score - loss

Wisconsin - Gophers win big and Badger fans hopes and dreams for this season are crushed once and for all

Nebraska goes to the championship game with only 1 loss

Looks realistic. Don't lock in Nebraska just yet though. Obviously they are the favorites, but they play at Wisconsin and at Iowa in the final 3 weeks of the season.

If they lose those two, then our dreams of the B1G Championship game become reality.

And Wisconsin owns Nebraska.

True, but I don't know if they will this year. Wisconsin does not have the offensive balance of the last several years. The game is at home so they may win but I bet it will be a tight one.
