Can sanctions be far behind for Auburn? ESPN may have to go on probation with Pearl hanging around there a couple of years.

I think he's a great fit for the SEC. They never worry too much about sanctions every 4 years and the SEC as a whole is not great at basketball. Personally, I'd avoid him like the plague, but that's a personal opinion.

I have always kind of liked Pearl so I hope he does well wherever he ends up.

I always liked his line a few years back when he said he and Pat Summit had combined for six(?) National Titles at Tennessee.

I hear he puts on an excellent barbecue, too.

He'll have them competitive in short order. His methods will fit nicely into the SEC. He seems like a charming and knowedgeable guy on TV, but he has a history that I wouldn't touch.

Agreed. Always thought he was a good coach, and fits in perfectly with Auburn/SEC. Im sure if Auburn didnt close the deal Virginia Tech would of been on the trail.

He has a show cause penalty expiring in August of 2014, proving once again that the SEC doesn't give a **** about integrity or the rules even in roundball.

That being said I bet he makes Auburn relevant in basketball and a consistent tourney team before long, he's a good coach. His time on television did a lot to rehab his image and keep him in front of future recruits. I bet he uses the Barkley hook and pulls some great classes.

I wonder if after his loss of job at Tennessee if his conscience will keep him on the straight and narrow and if that will prevent him from competing at the same level in Auburn.

I also wonder if Auburn's strict academics will prevent him from recruiting the best players.

HAHAHAHA I jest.

Yep. Stay classy Auburn. Remember the day Tubby was certain to go there the day the Gophers played in the NCAA tournament? Good times.

Auburn Hires Bruce Pearl

Bruce Pearl will be the next coach of the Auburn Tigers, Pearl and the school confirmed Tuesday.

Pearl told ESPN.com that he received a six-year deal, but financial terms were still being worked on Tuesday. He said details would be released later.

Pearl said he cannot recruit, or evaluate, under his NCAA show-cause penalty from his time at Tennessee until Aug. 24, 2014. NCAA spokeswoman Emily James said Auburn has 30 days to file a report to the Committee on Infractions either contesting or accepting the show-cause penalty.

Note the "happy birthday" song at the end. It was his birthday yesterday. That's pretty cool.
