Right now, I just want to get to 5-1.

I don't get the Gopher fans who wanted Northwestern to beat PSU today. With a loss at PSU and a loss at home to Wisky next week, NU would have come limping in to TCF in two weeks at 1-4, deflated and defeated.

Unless I'm missing something, Gopher fans should be cheering for every B1G team NOT on their schedule to tear it up. Go PSU, MSU, Maryland, Rutgers!!

Makes sense to me.

We've got to take it brick by brick. Possibly Purdue is the only softie. NW thumped PSU away, and Illinois looked much better than last year in their lost to Nebraska.

The Gophers have a legitimate shot at a few upsets if they stay healthy. The next four games on the schedule will show whether or not they are ready to challenge for the B1G West title.

It wouldn't be surprising if they knock off a team or two out of their last four games.

Yep to all of this.

This team could also not go 8-1. We have all witnessed how putrid ouf offense can be. Let's just be happy with 4-1, prepare for NW, and don't count our chickens before they hatch.

That only reduces the credibility of our wins. Wisconsin and Iowa our the only teams I hope lose.

I was happy NU beat PSU just because I like the little guy (you know, like our team). I can't see the Wildcats beating Wisconsin, so that part doesn't matter. Just the fact they are playing a game next weekend against a physical Wisconsin team and we have the week off is nice. We actually have the bye week in our favor for once, as opposed to always playing teams coming off byes...

I'll enjoy taking an optimistic outlook, you have fun with the pessimistic approach :)

We originally had a chance to be 13-0.
I always see this kind of hyperbole as the kiss of death, hopefully I'm wrong, but it annoys the crap out of me. If we get to 5-1, I'll start considering we could get to 6-1. NW has screwed up a lot of dreams for us over the last 30 years, I'll feel a lot more optimistic if we beat them, and I don't care if it is by one point.

That's the realist, down to earth approach. The pessimistic approach would be much more negative. :)

One game at a time. Let's rock NW and keep moving forward. The rest of the dust will settle around us. Best thing is it gives us a week to get healthy when we really need it

We shouldn't get carried away - NW will be tough and Illinois has some good personnel. Probably Purdue is the only gimme on the schedule. The heartening thing is that with one down, two more conference victories looks a lot easier than it did Friday.

2008, Minnesota started 7-1 and many on the board were talking about a possible trip the Rose Bowl. I was just hoping to win two more games and get to 6 B1G wins. What happened next was Decker got hurt against Northwestern and we blew a late lead, that was punctuated by a silly decision to try to score before OT (had a terrible FG kicker anyways) and Weber gets pick six'd with under a minute left in the game. Then a bad Michigan team comes in and plays their best game of the season against the Gophers minus Decker, then the Gophers lose a heart breaker in Camp Randall, then...55-0 happened.

Anyways, different team, different coach, and the state of the conference is certainly weaker. That said, the Gophers have never been good enough to look past more than 1-2 conference opponents (if that) in my lifetime. Mediocre teams put on good performances occasionally. Good teams do it consistently. Really good performance yesterday, but ESPN could have said the Gophers would go 2-6 in the B1G after watching them at TCU.

Many of the "fans" here said the Gophers would go 0-8 in the Big Ten after watching them at TCU.
