ESPN game production

Lots of people travel from far away to attend games.

Lots of people also can't afford to drive/fly long distances, get a hotel room, purchases tickets, etc seven or eight times each fall.

And some of us (okay maybe just me) work for another team that has a game and can't make the trip out from Florida to attend. Believe me, it kills me that I haven't been to a game in 2 years and I'm just praying we get a bowl here in the Sunshine State... if not in Pasadena :)

Bottlebass is quite simply way out of line on this one.

Watching the game back right now. Beth could've showed just a tad bit of emotion on our blocked punt. It's almost as if she didn't even know what was going on.

LOL. I think her work space was covered with OSU-MSU promos to read. Failure to recognize a big play has been bothering me all year. And, I have a bit of an issue with media feeling free to rake a coach or player over the coals for a "mistake" while they continue to turn in awful performances of THEIR jobs.

Sadly I managed to sleep in until 1045 yesterday...all I wanted to do was take a quick nap after working the 911 phones all night in Minneapolis. Slept through all 3 of my alarms and would have made it by half time, at that point it was over. Now I'm more pissed I missed one of the greatest games of the year, but I did have it on the radio.

I feel ya man. I missed both Iowa wins when I was still in school because I was sick.

To me it is not the "cluelessness" of Beth that bothers me (there are plenty of clueless play-by-play people out there), but that voice of hers sounds like fingernails on a chalkboard, especially when she tries to get excited about a play. And I am not saying this because it's a female voice - I have heard (and enjoyed) Michelle Trafoya do play-by-play for instance. And unfortunately due to cable delays, etc., I can no longer "turn the sound down" on my TV and simultaneously play Mike Grimm's radio feed.

One thing I forgot about before just watching the replay of the game was the Jones TD reception. How the hell do they not have a camera at the goal line? It appears Jones was short but I don't blame the refs for not over turning the call since there wasn't a good angle to know for sure.

I realize some people live too far away to attend every game. All I said was a lot of people travel from far away to attend the games. Which is absolutely true. I also said it was sad that the stadium wasn't full for one of the biggest games at TCF ever... Which is also true. I never said you had to attend EVERY game. Which I do. And its not easy for me either because I work nights.

So a select few of you that live too far away to attend the game got your panties in a bunch when I said people could easily fix this problem by just showing up for the game. Good for you. It was obvious the comments were directed at maybe the 3.2 million populating the twin cities area or maybe the 5.4 million that live in the state. We can't get 45,000 people (assuming there were 7000 iowa fans there) to fill up a stadium for a game against one of our biggest rivals with a trophy and west division lead on the line? But we can complain about how sh!tty the TV broadcast was. Cool.

Something I found funny that Beth said. She thought Floyd was named after then-Governor Floyd Olson....ummm, Floyd was the pig's name.

Um... Floyd was named after Governor Floyd Olson. He came from Rosedale Farms in Iowa... Hence the name Floyd of Rosedale... He WAS a real pig. But I think the governors got in trouble for gambling so for future games they started using the statue...

The trophy was named after the pig, not the governor. That's what it seemed she was confused about. Maybe I just misheard her.

The trophy is the pig which was named after the governor so the trophy is named after the governor because the trophy is a sculpture of the pig

Yeah I got confused while typing that. its late...
