Because it's true?
If Minnesota wins vs Iowa and Wisconsin and loses the other two, they finish 6-3 in league play. Wisconsin, Iowa (and Purdue) would have at least 3 losses. Nobody else could have less than 3. Minnesota would have defeated all of the tied teams, so they would go to Indy.
Nobody's hoping for it, but it goes to show the outsized influence of the two trophy games because of tiebreakers.
