The audacity of me to post about Ndsu in an Ndsu/Oregon thread. Sorry to hurt your feeling boB.What in my post implied that my feelings were hurt?
I think Bison fans are incredibly annoying. They show up to conversations and start talking about their stupid team and no one cares. We wait for the noise to stop and then go back to conversations about college football. I actually use to root for them quite a bit - - i follow MN HS football pretty closely and so there are definitely Bison players that I have followed for years. It's the fans. You all are extremely annoying. I've actually never met one that wasn't annoying and I can't say the same thing for Badger/Hawkeye fans.
But maybe you're right, maybe subconsciously I wish I would have done really crappy in HS and not tried on the ACT so that I could have spent 4 years of my life at the lesser of the North Dakota schools because subconsciously I hate money. I loathe it. OR maybe, just maybe, I think you all are annoying so I want you to lose.
There is a Boston Celtics message board that frequent to try to force discussions about my favorite G-League basketball team, the Iowa Wolves, I'll see if they all have an opinion. They usually just tell me to F off though, I guess they don't like talking about the Iowa Wolves. Weird.

You're just saying the same thing I was saying in option a. NDSU fans and admin are currently waiting and hoping for a formal separation to be created, with a new NCAA national championship between the top of the FCS and all/most of the G5.If there would be separation between G5/P5, you'd probably see G5 MVFC, which would compete well against the MAC.
...
When you take away the ability to win a national championship, it will do damage the fan base.
(1)I completely disagree that SDSU/NDSU would want anything to do with being an FBS independent. That would be the kiss of death on any G5 level FBS team. See NMSU, Idaho, UMass, UCONN, etc. A move to FBS GS level would need to be in a conference. If there would be separation between G5/P5, you'd probably see G5 MVFC, which would compete well against the MAC.
(2) When you take away the ability to win a national championship, it will do damage the fan base. The new carrot would be winning conference titles, being the top G5, or getting good/high tier bowl games. Being independent does damage to those new goals. Being an FBS Independent is suicide for a G5 team, with the possible exception of Liberty where money is not an issue, and where their expectation is to BE. People say, why doesn't NDSU move up? Well, it's very specific to geography and the need to be in a conference. NDSU would go for the right offer in football. (MWC, CUSA, AAC)
