ESPN: Big Ten race update: Week 11 - Legends Division (Still alive: Minnesota)

I'm confused. I understand last year's was because they were inelligible but what of the previous two years? The first of the three they beat OSU head to head and the only team that could/should object is MSU but the following year they won the Leaders outright and beat MSU in the BCG and last year OSUs cheating allowed them in. Based on that, OSUs cheating only impacted one Badger team.

If you take the retroactively ineligible Ohio State team out of there, it's a two team tie between Wisconsin and Michigan State, which Michigan State wins because of their head to head victory. Michigan State is at the top of that two team tie, but ended up at the bottom of the three way tie that occurred because of the ineligible Buckeyes.

And THAT is what should have happened!!

Nothing is gravy, yet. The team needs to focus on the next game and believe that they can win. The real season is now one game at a time. Keep working on improving.

Well that's pretty revisionist history considering nobody had any idea of the scandal until after that season was over (though it initially broke with like 2 weeks left in the season). These types of situations likely occur every single year to some school and everything would be different had the punishments been applied instantlly. I'll give the Badgers the pass on that one.
