Men’s college basketball viewership up 25%, pacing for best season in 11 years

ESPN networks account for nine of the top 20 women’s games and 10 of the top 20 men’s games across all television
That’s somewhat surprising. I think game attendance numbers are down for many programs that aren’t top 25 type teams. Apparently there are more fans like myself that would much rather watch sports in the comfort of my home than an arena or stadium. Actually in all seriousness I wonder if the viewership numbers are affected by the fact that you can watch a game anywhere on a phone or other electronic device.

Yes and add in sports gambling and there’s a reason remote viewership has been exploded

Massive part of why mlb numbers are up with younger audiences despite the only meaningful change being the pitch clock.

It's also helped by the fact that a chunk of the viewership is streaming ESPN directly and that # is whatever they say it is.
