Great quote:

Cameras and cell phones were not allowed because the exclusive rights to the wedding had been sold, but Santa Clara assistant coach James Ware, a former director of basketball operations under Monson, offered a snapshot moment from a guest table that included Humphries' former and current coaches.

"We were all sitting there, and Kris has come over and said 'hello' earlier in the evening," Ware said. "Well, Kris comes back a second time without Kim again and Monson says, 'Hey Kris, we are tired of seeing you, and you've never been good at sharing even in basketball. I'm just telling you: Don't come back over here again without bringing Kim.'

"The entire table erupted because Kris as a player has never been an assist guy."

Go Gophers!!

This is so awesome! For those of you that didn't get a chance to see that side of him, Monson was a really funny guy.

I was at an event with Gopher coaches a few years back and Dan Monson and J. Robinson were by far the best guys there. I was in the bathroom with friends and Monson came in and started talking chatting. He seemed really loose and sincere. He chatted with one guy about wanting more state tournament games in Williams Arena. This was during the Humphries recruitment and I asked how it was going. Monson thanked me for asking because he was reporting back to Humphries about all the people around the state who wanted him to stay home and play.

I also talked to Monson and I agree he seemed like a genuine nice guy. Right before he got the ax he said something about Clem Haskins. "I also could win like Clem if the university would look the other way like they did for his tenure". I don't know I remember this correctly but he also said something that blew me away. "I graduate more kids in my first year to graduation than Clem did in all his time here." Again, I don't know if I remember this correctly but It was something said like that.
