per Phil:

Sure, money talks. And Fleck’s never been one to shy away from the spotlight.

But there aren’t many programs where it can shine so obviously on one individual without drawing insurmountable ire.

We’re not saying Fleck won’t ever leave. It just might not come as quickly as folks around here think.

The opportunities will surely present themselves if Minnesota keeps winning. But when they do, Fleck would be wise to put down the loudspeaker for a minute, look in the mirror and ask if he’s going to find a better fit than he has here.

Go Gophers!!

I’d be worried if any of these came calling. Pray for success and good health for the head coaches of these teams.

Notre Dame
Alabama
Clemson
Texas
Ohio State
Oklahoma
USC - A big maybe on this one.

Another bogus article. I just want to see more seasons like last year before I get all worked up if Fleck leaves for a different school. IMO, if he leaves I hope the Gophers are in a better position than the one he inherited.

I just want to enjoy the ride so far, and not worry about what may or may not materialize.

IMHO, the Gophers job fits well.

None of these will call. Not a chance, not any of these go too far from home and Fleck is not their style.

In some other place they might look behind the curtain and see the "Wizard" is no magician.
Fleck should stay where the fans have become enamored of him.

Only one of those schools will be considering a coaching change anytime soon. (USC)

I would be hard pressed to think of a coach more Hollywood in regards to his style, and personal branding than PJ. He would be a hit and fit in very very well in LA

I agree with this. I think of Fleck as mostly a midwest guy (Notre Dame and Michigan scare me). But USC, in LA with the sun, beach, media and celebrities, seems like it would be enticing. If not for PJ, then for Heather.

I thought it was a reasonably fair article.

The whole lead-in is very accurate - MN fans worried that the team is winning so much that the coach might leave. Also mentions Barriero doing his routine about "Fleck is leaving for USC."

And the gist of the story is that, in the writer's opinion, Fleck might be a better fit in MN than he would be in a lot of other jobs, because a school with long-standing tradition might not buy into the oars and all the other aspects of the Fleck experience.

As I read it, the point of the story is that Fleck could potentially be tempted by an offer from a helmet school, but he should think twice about any offer and decide if a new job would really be "better" than MN.

Hollywood means what? Conceded, self centered, big headed, or materialistic? PJ is far from Hollywood.

Disagree.

Little chance on the first six. USC is the only potential fit.

I think PJ likes being in a situation where winning is a product of his development philosophy. Not something he might be pressured into sacrificing his philosophy to achieve. The blue bloods will want to be in the NC conversation every year no matter what it takes.
