Jeter, Johnson, and now Conroy...pitino coaching tree grows
This is fascinating.Jeter, Johnson, and now Conroy...
No one knew it was Ben Johnson, either.Utah State Basketball Head Coaching Big Board: Replacing Craig Smith
The University of Utah basketball program filled their head coaching vacancy but now Utah State has an opening in their program.kslsports.com
Robbins can't go anywhere without sitting out. He used his free transfer. That's that.Good for Conroy if he gets it. Would be a nice job for him.
Hope Robbins stays.
Go Gophers!!
Regardless -- like it was for New Mexico -- Miles would be the obvious pick, if you want a winning MWC coach. No one knew it was Ben Johnson, either.
I don't believe that's the case. The NCAA issued a blanket waiver for this past season, which allowed most transfers the opportunity to play right away. They vote in April to change the rule permanently, which would allow all D1 student athletes one free transfer to play right away.Robbins can't go anywhere without sitting out. Unless he applies for a new waiver. Silly if the NCAA grants it, but who knows.
Would not be surprised if the rule has language like "any student-athlete who has not already transferred from a four-year institution to another four-year institution ....".I don't believe that's the case. It's possible. We shall have to wait and see if they vote to approve it and what exactly is the language of the new rule.Would not be surprised if the rule has language like "any student-athlete who has not already transferred from a four-year institution to another four-year institution ....".
Even if given a waiver to play right away, it's still a transfer between four-year schools (as opposed to transferring to/from a JUCO).
I did. I just never said anything...No one knew it was Ben Johnson, either.
The rule is already on the books and applies for all other sports than football and M/W bball. It's possible. We shall have to wait and see if they vote to approve it and what exactly is the language of the new rule.
Don't forget McHale. His tree is massive!Jeter, Johnson, and now Conroy...
And McHale left for HC at Eastern KY while under Pitino’s leadership.Jeter, Johnson, and now Conroy...
He was already an assistant at New Mexico. Wonder if he's getting retained? And McHale left for HC at Eastern KY while under Pitino’s leadership.
The most realistic scenario for next year is that we are going to be very bad and that Johnson is selling playing time and a brighter future to 2022 recruits. This could be bad... Liam has ties to Wisconsin and Iowa and now both of their centers are in the portal. If Conroy leaves you gotta think he would as well.

Jeter and Conroy were already head coaches and under someone else's tree. Jeter is under Bo Ryan. Rob would say so himself.Jeter, Johnson, and now Conroy...
Looks even bigger if you trim the shrubberyDon't forget McHale. His tree is massive!
