He's had some drops and has things to work on but Matt Simon is going to turn this kid into a superstar. Kind of reminds me of early Tyler Johnson when he was first making the transition to WR. But at 6'3" Dylan has even more size than TJ and seems to have good speed as well. I know it was a MAC opponent but I saw something in that game on Saturday that I didn't see in week 1. This kid is going to be a star before his career ends here and it could start as early as this year.

I know everyone is down on the passing game right now but when CRAB comes back we will have a really strong 1-2-3 at WR with him Wright and Jackson. At BSF to that mix and we could really go after teams through the air if Sanford/Fleck are willing to trust Morgan and let him put it up.
 

I agree 100%.

Interesting thing: Fleck is a total sandbagger. He knew what he had in Wright all along and didn't say a word when asked about his receiving corps during spring and summer practices. Gets to halftime of the Ohio State game and says "Now the world's going to learn about Dylan Wright!" Kept that ace up his sleeve.
 


Dylan Wright is super impressive and Daniel Jackson is pretty freaking good. Wright is probably the most physically impressive WR in the Fleck era. He is a big dude who can really run. Daniel Jackson is more in the TJ or Bateman mold, he runs really crisp routes.

This will be an exciting corps when CRAB is back. It already is.

Kinda what I was thinking. He needs to reliably catch the routine ball, not just the higher degree of difficulty shots. It's about concentration basically, and I'm confident that this staff, Simon specifically, can get him to see that.

Definitely like what we have seen so far. Without having been to practice at all, I'm going to guess that he's improved light years as a route runner since he showed up on campus.
 



I agree . Wright is something special. And our receiving crew can be quite special. That is if Sanford can get rid of that run run run bug he has in his head. Runs about 70 percent on first down i was told in the first half and 80 percent on first down in second half. No stinking reason for thinking Potts will hold up with 34 carries a game. And he has an injury prone past. We will have quite an offense when he opens the passing game up. But i dont think he will.

Thats fair. I thought so but with Covid year and Redshirt year and all that who knows.
 



Here is a mystery for Gopherhole...

How the hell do you pronounce his name? Grimm on the radio and the in stadium PA guy called him Day-Lyn and on the Gopher website his own pronunciation sounds like Day-Lyn but he has some southern twang and honestly I think he is saying Dill-in.

In one of the press conferences a reporter was calling him Dillon and Fleck corrected him to Daylin so would probably go with that. Guessing that is one of those fun things the kid has dealt with his whole life where his name is spelled one way and pronounced a different way.

Imagine the receiving corps with the tight end making 3-4 catches a game. That will open it up even more for the wide outs I kind of think fleck is muzzling the air game and then will unleash all kinds of hell on Purdue in a few weeks with CAB, wright, Jackson, SpannFord . that will be fun

I have doubts that he will run faster than Bateman's 4.43, but I do think he is closer to 6'3" than Bateman was to 6'2".

It looked like he tried to get back into the huddle but they wouldn't let him play, so hopefully that means it's not super serious.

I don't think they took his helmet but he also never got back out on the field. Tough to say but based on all that I would think he would be good to go against Colorado. Hopefully our WR group is at full speed for that one.
 

Dylan looks to have great straight ahead speed and the ability to climb the ladder for contested catches. As long-legged as he is, true 6’3”?, he seemed to trip up a bit with fancy footwork on inside routes. Hope we keep him more to the outside. Or if we run him on slants, please don’t lead him right into a safety that is going to blow him up the second after he stretches for a catch.

He has a lot of drops to quit dropping before he'll be a first rounder. And he isn't a great route runner. Tanner has had some not happy looks on his face while targeting him. So while he has the body and athletic ability to be a first rounder, he still has work to do.

I'd be peeved if I was Tanner too on a few of those.

I'm sure he knows he has to catch those.

Don't forget the other WRs. The WR room is loaded.

Dylan Wright came to the right program and he knows it now after his previous stop. The NFL pipeline will continue.

Wright will be in the NFL as a potential Day 1 pick if he sticks around long enough to hone his skills.

Yep, TJ had a ton of drops early in his career too but Simon was able to mold him into one heck of a receiver. We stopped throwing the ball after Wright got hurt against Miami OH so Morgan may have some frustration with him but he also locked in on him and Wright was able to draw a couple of penalties as well.

He is far from a finished product but he has all the raw tools and Simon has proven himself to be a very good WR coach. That is a great combination.
