Dylan Ray OL from Kentucky Commits

Seems I may be in the minority, but I hold out hope that our homegrown kids are going to develop enough to were one or two of these transfers become depth guys.
Me too, and that's the thing if Roy, Carroll, Tripp, Williams, Nelson etc, any of them emerge to go with Johnson then we know there pretty good if we're bringing in three guys who have P4 stars in their careers. It'll be interesting to see which five emerge and where

I agree. I was hopeful with the potential of Roy and Carroll due to their star power as incoming recruits, but have to remember they are redshirt freshmen next year. Then I thought ok, Nelson has played some, Lewis a fair amount and Beers a lot, and of course Johnson has 2 years as starter, so I liked the potential. Now they snag 2 really experienced lineman (and by all reports good ones) in the portal and feel the line has really improved into what on paper looks like a solid position group. I like it!

Also I sound like I’m in the the minority but I thought Johnson got better and better as the year went on with his line calls and technique. I like where he looks like he’s headed and has the potential to be really good as a center. Not JMS good because he was a mauler, but a good one.

Johnson did get better and I think he will be a high caliber starter for us for the rest of his career. He moves well and he had moments where he was just awesome. He had a block on DT's long TD run that really jumped out.

I don't think you're in the minority. The thing about JMS it all clicked for him in 2019, in his third year. Dude redshirted in. 2017 and maybe got some mop up time in 2018. But it all clicked in 2019 and off he went. Johnson to it on the field as a true frosh and he was imo a top half of the conference center by the end of the year. If someone surplants him and he moves to guard, that person going to have to be really good. I keep forgetting about Beers but I thought the line became more consistent when he entered the starting line up at guard. I just don't think it's quite clicked for Lewis and not sure that it will. We've brought in some transfers who have played a lot of snaps of power 4 football, we've recruited well, Callahan should have a lot to like about his room.

Johnson seems to have gotten over the arm-twitch false start that occurred much too often in early season games, killing several drives.
