I saw this from the Rivals board yesterday and couldn't find a lot of info on McCombs.

Juco big is hearing from Tubby

Yeah, I know, pretty short little blurb. I did find this-

McCombs is seeing his recruiting skyrocket. “It’s really picking up right now. I’ve got it down to a certain number of schools. There are probably six high-major, and six mid-major schools in the mix. I’m going on my three official visits soon. I plan on taking one to Arkansas, one to South Alabama, and the third isn’t decided yet. I’m probably going to take unofficial visits to Minnesota, Middle Tennessee State, Penn State, and Missouri. I may change my mind and give one of them my last official visit,” said McCombs.

McCombs is not in a rush to make a decision, but wants to have a decision made by April 15th. However, he also notes that if he finds the right school before then, that he will not hesistate to pull the trigger and make a commitment.

If this one would commit would it imply that young Mr. Royce White wouldn't be back?

I don't think we could assume he would take a specific scholly. There typically is roster attrition, even in a good year.

No, not at all. But, that should be the assumption.

As for Dwight McCombs, I think he'll be playing for the Maroon & Gold.. of ASU.

6'8" big guy, helluva year in JUCO this year in IL - 22 pts, 13 boards, 5 blocks. Chicago kid (2007), went to Miami of Ohio... didn't get the Wally S. treatment. Played little, got pissed. Redshirted sophomore year, this is his first year of JUCO. Two years of eligibility left.

He was going to visit Minnesota the weekend of April 16, but now is planning to go to ASU where his buddy Brandon Dunson has committed (and will be visiting that same weekend... Dunson is another JUCO) on the 16th. The weekend before he was planning to visit Arkansas. But, he could be an ASU commit before April rolls around.

Uhh, how does the Oto Osenieks link fit in here? Your ESPN dealy says 2010 but I think he's actually a 2011.

Plays for Brehm in IL, which has a lotta decent kids.. including Mike Liabo (UNC-Greensboro next year), Bruce Barron (2011 guard.. high major interest, Gophers have had some looks at him), and James Siakam... Siakam just reclassed from 2011 to 2010... interesting forward, but no Gopher ties..

BTW.. around thanksgiving Brehm took on Findlay... good game early on, but Findlay opened it up in the second half and won 74-59 (Findlay shot 15/20 from the field in the second half..). Cory Joseph with 21 pts, 7 boards and Tristan Thompson had 18 and 11 in that game.. Oto with 11 and 4... Liabo, Barron and Siakam with 12, 14 and 13, respectively.

Juco big man looking to visit three schools
By Van Coleman

One of the top junior college big men in the country, 6-8 Dwight McCombs has scheduled three visits.

We received a heads-up from our good friend Richard Davenport that 6-8 235-pound Dwight McCombs from Moraine Valley CC, IL was getting ready to take some visits, starting with this weekend.

"Dwight McCombs will visit Murray State this weekend," Davenport told Hoopmasters. "He will then visit Arkansas, April 9-11 and Minnesota the following weekend of April 16-18th."

McCombs will also consider taking addition visits to South Alabama, Penn State, and Missouri if needed. He is stuill open to listening to schools, especially this month as coaches make moves.

He averaged 24 points and 13 rebounds for Moraine Valley this past winter. he has really worked on his face-up game from 15-feet and has become a dominating finisher to go with his ability to control the glass. He has all the tools to come in and make an immediate impact at the high major level next fall.
