I would pay money that the celebrity in that mascot would be AJ Barker’s Mom’s Best Friend. It would be a perfect to one of the most messed up telecasts I have ever seen. If it wasn’t you know that AJ wrote a letter to someone saying that she thought it was the greatest mascot of all time.

I don't give a rip about the Barker family. However, I'm curious if there was a celebrity involved. Edit: A minute later I then see the reveal!

I loved the broadcast, it was sloppy but it was fun. As for the celebrity reveal....Fleck was legit excited to see Flavor Flav in the costume, his face lit up.

Great reference that I haven't heard in a while! Lol!

Should have been Newman, that would have been cool, or Norm from Cheers. I could see the guy being a celebrity with Baskin and Robbin’s Bowl, Flavor Flave…..close enough.

It’s all over the internet and they get tons of publicity by not taking themselves or their condiment too seriously.

If it was a staid broadcast, it’s forgotten immediately. Having Flava Flav was brilliant - he connects like Snoop to a variety of Demos and is fun.

For a regional product that likely wants to grow nationally, creating brand awareness is key. People are discussing their products and debating mayonnaise: do you think that happens for the majority of the other products at similar level bowls, who aren’t creative, but more traditional? Pop Tarts gets it as well.

Me 30 years from now telling my grandkids the story of when Flavor Flav dumped Mayo on PJ Fleck after a Gophers victory:

Agreed. Affable goofball. Noncontroversial pick. Was wondering who they could have that would make sense and would actually do it. This made sense. Smart marketing team behind this bowl game.

Something the coaches, fans and players will never forget😃.

Who knows, someday Fleck’s tenure may be broken out as -

BFF - Before Flava Flav
AFF - After Flava Flav

Look how excited Spencer is, pretty impressive since he wasn't even alive when Public Enemy was at their most popular......I get it from Fleck, he is a few years younger than me and Public Enemy was huge during our younger years.

For Fleck it had to be a surreal moment.....getting mayo dumped on his head by Flavor Flav.....one of those "how did I get here" moments for sure.

You may not think he's a celebrity, but I was watching with my two college aged kids and they knew immediately (to my surprise) who he was. And that's the demographic that matter....it's all about recruiting and publicity on a national level.
I showed my 3rd grader the reveal this morning. His reaction: “Wow! Coach Prime!”
But my 5th grader correctly identified the celebrity.

I'm "old" (over 50) and don't like rap but I still totally know who he is....hard not to.

Have you guys heard of Snoop Dogg?
Is that short for Snoopy the Dog? He hangs out with Big Bird right?
