Anyone watcing Duke/UK tonight? Ive watched Duke twice now, and I am fairly confident we will be the more athletic team when we match up on Thanksgiving. If we can just play solid D (not making mistakes allowing wide open shots) I really like our chances.

We will get plenty of offensive chances. I really like our matchups.

What does everyone else think?

We better hope Seth Curry is off that day. He's exactly the guy that won't miss the open attempts the Gophers give up.

duke will undercut all drives to the rim.. Rodney needs to be careful because Greg Paulus will be waiting...
they play like wisky.. chippy.. but shoot well and take care of the ball..

Kelly looks so much like Dirk Nowitzki it's crazy.

great Kentucky run following Coach K's momentum killing timeout following his teams made 3.

Curry, Kelly, and co. could kill the gophers from 3-point land. I'm pretty sure a team who beats Kentucky is not going to be scared of the gophers. I say we have a chance, but everything has to go right. If everything isn't going well we don't stand a chance. They're simply a marquee team.

The gophers are good! Good enough to beat Duke? Most likely no, but we'll see. You can never count a team out!

Duke doesn't have a guy that is capable of creating his own shot like they are used to. This isn't a "great" duke team. They are just all upperclassman and that's why they beat the wildcats tonight. If duke and Kentucky meet in march I would bet the farm on Kentucky.

We are much more athletic and I think overall our front court is better than dukes as of now. They get the edge in the backcourt but we can the edge in ball pressure defense. This years gopher squad is better then the team that beat Louisville and UNC, and I don't think this duke team is as good as that UNC/Louisville teams. I'm very confident in the gophers on turkey day.

Gosh I really hope Mbakwe can be back strong by that game! Hey, I'll take an 8 point, 8 rebound preformance from him with some good post defense and being a team leader.

Gophers' disruptive defense leads to a 12 point victory... shocking the collective college basketball world. Curry and co. are a product of the ESPN hype machine... overrated.

Thankfully, if we lose we are losing to a top 5 team. Thankfully, if we win we are beating a top 5 team.

Go Gophers!

We have to cut down on our turnovers to have a chance. Coleman needs to control the ball, which he is capable of doing. Another 10 turnover game from him and the Gophers chances of victory are greatly reduced. I would love to see a nice key win against Duke on the Gophers resume in March.

It would have to be like NC a couple of years ago when Barnes couldn't hit anything.

...Well...the good thing about playing Duke in November is that this is when Tubby's teams play their best ball...

I also watched them tonight and they are beatable. If we can get Plumlee into foul trouble again our bigs will have a clear advantage. The Hollins boys can shut down Curry but not if he is getting open shots coming off screens. Kentucky didn't do a great job rebounding either.

Will be a tough game but the Gophers can handle them.

This is true. I also add that Gophers play better away from the Barn. We beat IU last year at Indy where UK lost. My only concern is Duke's Hollywood style of basketball when players try to take charges. Coach K must have a patent on this. Even his former players in NBA tried to do it for years until this year.

We play Wisconsin twice a year. We're used to it.

With all due respect to the Badgers, no one flops like the Dukies.:) Have made it an art form. I loved how Calipari got a dig in about Duke's flopping when he was interviewed at halftime.

Speaking of Duke flops, I was reminded of this video from NCAA March Madness 2010.

Nothing compared to this. I think stuff like that should be a technical.

I think we will have a good shot to beat Duke. We look to have a clear advantage inside especially in terms of depth and I think we are the more athletic team. The one concern for me about Duke is Curry's shooting ability, he is a very good shooter and we will have to have someone step up and limit his open chances. I think if Tubby puts Rodney on Kelly it will really limit what Kelly can do and throughout the lineup I feel like the Gophers match up very well with Duke.

So what does that make Kentucky?

So what does that make Kentucky?

After last night I'm more than comfortable saying both Kentucky and duke are overrated right now. They very well can be great by the end of the year but right now neither looked like top 10 teams

So what does that make Kentucky?

I do think Kentucky is overrated based on the fact that no one knows how good their freshman will be.

Curry is a very good player, but generally isn't a guy that just blows up from beyond the arch. In 19 of 34 games last year, he had two made 3-pointers or less. Only three times did he make four in a game. In comparison, Hoffarber had 10 games his senior year in which he had four 3-pointers or more. Just limit his open shots and we should be fine.

Watch, he'll go off and make like six of them against us now.

Michigan impressive

Of the teams I've seen at least bits & pieces of, Michigan has impressed me the most. Granted, the competition hasn't been great, but my early sense is Michigan's gonna' live up to its ranking. A lot of weapons, and John Beilein has always been a tremendous coach. That talent with his coaching could be dangerous.

(Having said that, now watch the Wolverines go out and lose to Pitt next week in New York.)

Oh yeah, I've seen that one, total flop, he barely got touched, if at all. The one I posted was from a video game though, the Duke player flopped even in the game, which was funny.

rodney will have two fouls in two minutes.. both from undercut flops.
big Mo will also sit early... when he pivots, his elbows are usually out.. duke will be ready with a headgrab/falldown/wail..
same for EE... elbows.
our guards will be frustrated with all the handchecking of duke.. then curry will woof after hitting two straight 3's.. which will make it even more frustrating.
duke up 8 with 8 to go.. they milk clock, flop when needed on offense, and go 14/15 from the FT line down the stretch to win by 11.

this has been K's formula for the last decade when his talent hasn't been the greatest.

they make more FT's than we attempt.
they will shoot more 3's than 2's.

And don't forget the Mount Rushmore pose on the bench (K, Chrissy Collins, lil' flopper Wojo, etc.) we're sure to see, when K's boot-licking former players turned assistant coaches mimic their hero by putting their index fingers and thumbs to their chin, all in perfect Dukie harmony. The pose is as priceless as a Duke flop.

If Duke's hot from 3 it won't be close. If they're cold, we'll have a chance.
