Anyone know if he is back at full speed and strength? I thought I saw him in a couple plays last week, but I think we need to him back healthy. I haven't heard his name mentioned in any updates this week.

I noticed his absence when Leidner attempted a short out pass to K.J. Maye. Leidner overshot Maye, but it would be nice to have some height on the outside for those types of plays. Don't know if that's a scheme or personnel issue (or simply an errant throw by Leidner), because Maye is a valuable player. All this said, it would be great to have Wolitarsky back on the field.

Kill just said that Drew will play this week.

He was healthy last week and went in on four plays. I hope they play him more than last week because he creates match up problems we need. I would hate to see him start to school shop because he isn't being played. We need to hang onto players like him.

What are you talking about? Clearly he wasn't healthy last week and that is why he got in on only 4 plays.

This is a coaching issue. Nobody likes to be marginalized by neglect. This is what happens when you are so very much run dependent. Anybody who thinks the passing game should stay at 400 yards for our top receiver is missing out on half the plays everywhere else.

Would you want to stay here and block for running backs without a little gravy of your own once in a while that amounts to more than a hundred yards a month? 4th best wideouts from the Barber/Maroney era will probably have better stats than our top wideout this year. THIS IS NOT IMPROVEMENT!!

I would imagine the priority was to get him as close to 100% as possible for TCU, and the coaches felt we didn't need him to play a ton of snaps last week. If that's the case, I'd agree with them.

Or maybe he's a little more banged up than the coaches are letting on. I hope that's not the case, we need him out there.

I don't know if it as much as a coaching issue as it is a that the guy was a little banged up and rather than force him in and risk further injury, we coasted with an early 28-0 lead. Why risk banging him up with that kind of lead?

How would sitting him out account for the lack of any passing game? This would apply to ANY wideout.

Well...Dean is no longer a fan. I can add him to the fake Gopher fan (ignore) list.

He's been on mine for months. It would help if you would not quote the a-hole. He's an A-1 troll.

He was 100% healthy last week. I know it for a fact. If he wasn't, you wouldn't send him in at all. You don't risk him on four running plays only to have him block. Oh wait, I forgot, he also went in late in the game when they were expecting an onside kick. He was front and center. You don't put an injured receiver in for an onside kick. Nope, this was a coaching issue. Hopefully they get their shat together Saturday, because we are going to need everything we've got.

First of all, you should throw out this year's number as we've only played two games. But if you want to include it, then you should know that during last year's four non conference games, we passed the ball 23% of the time. Everyone knows there is no way we are going to continue at the 24% pace during the Big Ten season.

Secondly, one reason it went down in 2013 compared to 2012 is because we were winning more games. Pretty simple, you're winning you generally run more. You're losing, you pass more.

Would you want to stay here and block for running backs without a little gravy of your own once in a while that amounts to more than a hundred yards a month?

I don't think Kill keeps it a secret what they want to do on offense. We're going to run the ball two thirds of the time. I don't know how a WR wouldn't know that coming to MN.

4th best wideouts from the Barber/Maroney era will probably have better stats than our top wideout this year.

Stop making things up. That would require our leading receiver to have only about 200-300 yards. Both Jones and Williams are on pace to get 500+ yards this year and that isn't including a bowl game. Seriously, go look back at the stats. In Barber's last year, the top receiver had 654 yards. In Maroney's last year, the top receiver had 568 yards. Not much different than we could see this year.

Want some more stats that include the Barber/Maroney era? In 2003, we passed the ball 29.6% of the time. It was 32% in 2004 and 34.5% in 2005. The run/pass ratio was no different then than it is now. In 2003 we were very good partly because our passing game was very efficient. Abdul-Khaliq completed 61.3% of the passes. That's where we need to be now to be more successful. It's about efficiency, not play calling.

THIS IS NOT IMPROVEMENT!!

You're not really go out on the limb here. Everyone knows the passing game hasn't really improved.

Unless you have talked to Wolitarsky or the staff, this does not make it a fact.

Either way, they obviously had a reason to not play him much last week. By saying it is a "coaching issue", you're insinuating they forgot about him or something.

Look at the poster's location. Likely that it's a friend, family member, or possibly even one of his parents. I don't know what is to be gained from slinging it with a bunch of rubes on a Gopher website, particularly when your contribution is to badmouth the coaching staff that your friend/cousin/brother/son chose to play for.

Well skid, you are wrong. Sad thing is that you don't realize it.

Kill mentioned in his radio show today it was more of a mental thing as to why Wolitarsky didn't play much against MTSU. Probably just related to getting his mind right for playing in live games after not playing since Syracuse last year. I don't remember what he said exactly, it could have just been an excuse for not playing him much because we didn't really need him. It sounds like he's healthy though.

This coaching staff tends to ease players back in coming off an injury. That has been the case for Lauer, Amaefula, and Wolitarsky this season and they've done it with other players in the past. It's nothing to get too bent out of shape over.

Gents, just because I don't have 5000+ posts on this site doesn't mean I was born yesterday. I'm not family, but I do follow the team since he signed, and yes, it's because he's from my town. It's interesting reading some of the replies, as these sites are about one thing, opinions. Sure, maybe I do have an opinion that doesn't agree with everyone on here, but it's what we all do.
- dp68, what I try to gain is some insight from some of you because everyone has different inside connections on the team.
- spoof, not wrong about any of it.
- Iowa, you said "We're going to run the ball two thirds of the time. I don't know how a WR wouldn't know that coming to MN." Maybe they are told something different when they are recruited?
- jaymil, thanks for the info, I agree, it's a long season and maybe they have a game plan for the long run.
Bottom line, I'm just a frustrated fan who wants to see a hometown kid play.

Wolitarsky listed as "OR" at 1st string Z receiver vs. TCU.

Must be a conspiracy.

Heavy sigh.

Well...Dean is no longer a fan. I can add him to the fake Gopher fan (ignore) list.

I really don't care how many dimwits put me on their ignore list. I am a fan. Just not a delusional fan. I want success and not rigidity in our coaching staff. Too bad you accept only the hope of the status quo.

Anytime you can take some stats as proof after two games, you TOTALLY got to do it!

Winning pct.
2012: .462
2013: .615
2014: 1.000

Pretty idiotic, isn't it?

If this trend continues, we will be 14-0 by the end of the year, and next year should win more games than we play!

Dean S said that "THIS IS NOT IMPROVEMENT!" and that it's a coaching thing. I guess he's Ok if we lose as long as we're throwing the ball a lot.
