Klein: There's a lot of work that goes into a football team besides the Xs and Os. The guys have their strength and conditioning responsibilities, guys have academic responsibilities, guys do community service -- there's a lot of parts that make up the whole of a football team.
I know that winning games is the goal, but I think the whole "coaching boys into men" mentality of Kill and staff is a breath of fresh air. I think this will go over big with parents in recruiting. I think this is completely different from the "We are a family" mentality.[/QUOTE]
That is not only not fair, but totally inaccurate. This is not just coach Kill. I know for a fact that Gopher players visited children many times. I know that one of coach Brewters first acts was to sign a game ball for a sick former player(60's). From all accounts Mason and players did community outreach and Wacker did as well.
I am happy for coach Kill and want him to succeed like everyone else here. I just don't think we need to throw former coaches and players repeatedly under the bus.
Can it be football season now please???
I agree Kill and Klein have been making key changes in fitness and the guys' daily routines.
Also know Kill has moved Sean Ferguson (RFr) from defense to the O Line.

I agree.
I've actually heard that Brew and Mason both did do quite a bit around the community as well. I do think that Kill has put a larger emphasis on academics than either of the previous coaches did, but we'll see in a couple seasons. I know I read that our academics actually improved quite a bit under Brew than the previous regime, but I don't really consider either of the prior coaches to have been guys who didn't care at all about their players.
Are you buying in? Do you feel that this way of doing things is better than the previous regime?
MG: I just feel like it's totally different. Both could benefit any player. It's up to us.
I thought that was a mature response by Gray. He could have taken a shot at the old staff but didn't.

So, you highlighted the part that read guys do community service and then stated "That is not only not fair, but totally inaccurate. This is not just coach Kill. Can you do me a favor and highlight the part where anyone stated that the previous coaches did not do community service, or were not advocates of community service?
I have grown tired of the rear-view mirror bashing of coaches as well, but here I think you're just looking for a fight that doesn't exist.

Not looking for a fight, just stating that This is bigger than Kill and has been going on for some time. The part below is what I'm referring to. Especially the whole coaching boys into men comment, and the I think this is completely different from the "we are family" mentality(recopied and pasted below) .

Again, I am delighted to have Coach Kill and staff on board. I just happen to think that the previous staffs and most of all players should be recognized for their accomplishments as well.
