Thought that would make people happy.

I'm sure he has nothing but positive things to say.

Ice, give us the lowdown on what he says, ok?

When he starts talking............

....to Judd....man that's entertainment. I'm sure Dubay has to leave the room.

- Mentioned that Norwood was in Indy and "probably" talked to Stevens.
- Said that he got "hammered" on twitter for saying that the Gopher job was "Hoiberg's to lose."
- Didn't think that Flip was a good fit for the job because of his lack of college coaching experience. Tried to dodge Dubay's comparison to Hoiberg's lack of experience but grudgingly admitted there was little difference.
- Dubay questioned whether Teague's attachment to "Villa 7" could be a detriment to the U rather than a help.
- Doogie thought that Marquette was a better job then the U, the others disagreed.
- Discussion ensued about practice facility. How despite what Tubby was told he didn't get one.
- Doogie thinks the practice facility and private jet are done deals this time.
- Tubby Smith might get the T.T. job today.

There you go Doc, lots of speculation, not a lot of facts.

I don't think he said Flip wasn't a good fit. He did bring up his limited college experience and concerns about ncaa compliance.

Thanks Iceland. Sounds like Doogie, Dubay, et al, know nothing either, just like the rest of us.

If true, good news on the facility and the plane. Cool stuff there. I think regardless of record, if Tubby being here was hindering fund raising significantly the move was worth it, regardless of who you hire after.

The fact NT was actually able to get face time with Brad is encouraging though, even if he isn't the guy, it at least would mean he was willing to chat about it.

No one knows and the media is just filling in with stupid theories.

Since when did "probably" become getting face time? :banghead:

Not sure, but i am shocked that they have an agreement in place and there is nothing being reported.

Agreed, the gym and the plane are the big pieces to this. Not that it was the primary reason to fire Tubby, but this coaching search is giving Norwood some leverage in extracting donations for these types of things.

+1

Zulgad just stated that by firing Tubby within 24 hrs of loss to Fla, they created the impression they had a coach in place and we would hear this week. They've already been turned down by two, and maybe more. The media and fans did not create the impression.

Dumbest thing I have heard him say.

Not to mention, what if the coach is in the S16?

Yep. Doogie is a giant moron and he should get hammered for his stupid Hoiberg nonsense. He didn't learn his lesson, you can already tell with how he's talking about Stevens. I guarantee you that ALL Doogie is going off of is the fact that Teague is in Indy and Butler is in Indy. That's it. It's really not much more outlandish than me saying I haven't seen Stevens in all of LA.

Ha. Yeah, maybe Judd is The Scout.

It gave that impression to people who don't follow college basketball. If Tubby is not your guy, you fire him right away. You don't contemplate that decision for a week. UCLA fired Howland and they don't have a guy yet. . .

I wonder how many people bought into GL's "source" about having a guy in place?

I cannot listen to 5 minutes of Zulgad without screaming at my radio. Complete ________. (too many words I want to use, and they are all naughty)

I know of Shaka....who else have they actually been turned down by? I guess Stevens if they indeed inquired him? If that's the worst of it so far, we're in decent shape.

I thought by firing Tubby quickly, that meant they were just sure they wanted to move on and wanted to get the process going ASAP. How fast a coach could get hired? I had zero expectations until "sources" started spewing stuff about how it could be extremely quick. That's what created that impression IMO.

When Zulgad says ANYTHING, I blow it off. When he speaks I want to stick my eardrums with needles and never hear again. He likes to come off as the rational expert and when you listen he sounds like a blow hard know it all who gets his information from somebody sitting next him at a bar in a old North Stars sweatshirt.

Exactly.

The other one they were referring to was Hoiberg.

I just can't believe how people(especially media) ASSUME things.

In retrospect, when I think about it...if you have as much confidence as these guys have in knowing where the coaching talent is, maybe you don't worry as much about having someone lined up before you make the move to dismiss the existing coach.

I may be in the minority, but I think it was the primary reason to fire Tubby. The causal factor may have been the on-court performance and progression, but more than anything, for the long term, this program needs a practice facility.

If they had waited to fire him we would just be hearing about how we let him twist in the wind for too long. How we should have let him go sooner so he had a chance to throw his hat in the ring for the new openings. How we cost him a chance at getting involved early enough to secure a good opportunity.
