per this Doogie tweet: "Spoke w/ assoc. AD David Benedict on if a scenario exists where Kill shifts into an admin. role: "That's nothing we've discussed." #gophers"

Go Gophers!!

In my opinion, dumb question. Kill is a football coach and there is no eveidence that he won't be successful. He met reasoanble goals for years 1 and 2. First year, he changed the attitude and the culture. Year 2, his team over achieved and reached a bowl game. Let's have it play out and see about year 3. People like Doogie just stir crap up, I guess that is their job.

Not sure what Doogie was hoping to get at with this one. No way would Kill go the administrator route, he would go insane sitting behind a desk. If he can no longer coach at this level at some point due to health issues he can always drop back down to the lower divisions where the spotlight is not so bright.

I think sometimes Doogie likes to try and probe to see if he can uncover something, even if there is nothing there and he has to make up a scenario.

I'm sure Doogie would get the same answer if he asked if Coach Kill was going to coach the Gopher Rowing team. My God.

Yeah, like Benedict is going to say, "Well, we've talked about that. Oh, wait. Did I say that out loud?"

While I think some GHers are too sensitive about the media, that was just a weird question and tweet.

bingo. unfortunately many media jackals and media whores are like this.

I used to like Doogie. But when he starts to ask questions like this, that make absolutely no sense, it makes me question what he is trying to prove.

Maybe he is lobbying for Reusse's job when that fat slob retires.

Tomorrow Doogie's going to ask Teague's secretary if Kill is being considered for the grounds crew at Siebert Field.

I think doogie is a doo bag for asking this question. I'm posting my comment here because I didn't want to start a new thread. Has Coach Kill made a comment since his seizure? I find it odd if he hasn't and I wish he would. If I missed it someone please let me know, thanks. I'm not worried about the seizures, like Kill has said all along. But when he doesn't make a statement or isn't heard from, I don't like that. I want to hear from the leader.

Coach Kill has this program progressing exactly according to plan. His 2nd year is almost exactly like his 2nd years in his previous gigs. At the start of the season I predicted 6 wins and a minor bowl game, for a reason. He is doing exactly as planned.

Is it according to plan to finish dead last in recruiting in the conference, because that is where he is this year and likely to finish close to on signing day. 12th ranked recruiting classes in the conference will never win the legends division, much less the conference.

You should use your clairvoyance for something better, maybe the lottery.

Really Doogie? C'mon, you're better than that.

Who knows if this was Doogie looking for a story or Doogie wanting to shut up people asking about Kill having to resign?

+1. btw, thinking you should update your signature line to actually read: "proud dual fan of minnesota-D1A national football champs 1904, 1934, 1935, 1936, 1940, 1941, 1960 and ndsu-D1AA national football champs 2011"

:p

I know I'm in the minority in this thread and will possibly take shots for it, but Doogie's question was reasonable. Jerry Kill has suffered three separate in game or post game seizures in two seasons. If it was just once, the question would seem out of line to me, but three times makes it fair game given Kill's health concerns and how opposing teams will use it in the recruiting race, rightly or wrongly. Even though Benedict could have refrained from answering and was under no obligation to say anything, he firmly denied anything was happening on this front. However, you never know what Benedict might say or let slip unless you ask him and sometimes the manner of an answer or how words get used tells as much of a tale as anything. This goes beyond this topic. I'd rather tough questions like this get asked than not as a general rule.

I agree with Sports Realist, and I'm actually surprised at the hostile reaction here. It is a reasonable question. Maybe since the answer was a non-answer there wasn't much of a reason to tweet it, but it was a perfectly reasonable question to ask, given the coach's history of having seizures at inopportune times.

Asking the question is one thing, but tweeting the response when it is obvious there is no story there at all is pretty stupid. Doogie trying to manufacture news and controversy where there is none.

No, it wasn't a perfectly reasonable question given that Benedict's boss had gone out of the way in the past two days to state that the U was behind Kill, that the seizure was a manageable problem and that one thing that the athletic department would do is provide Kill more administrative support.

I like Doogie but that question was beyond ridiculous.
