Does Wisconsin's ASU Loss Continue to Plague Big 10 Team Rankings?

You've got a very good team this year. Either the 2nd or 3rd best team in the Conference and probably one of the 20 best teams in the country. Last year they got to go to a Rose Bowl with the 3rd best record in the Division and the Sixth :eek: best record in the Conference. So this year you got a bad call at the end of a game because you were afraid that your kicker couldn't hit a gimme unless he was kicking it from dead center and you couldn't beat them in the previous 59 minutes plus.

Too bad, so sad, maybe it was just karma for last year's gift Rose Bowl.

You guys have had a very nice run for awhile now, way better than the Gophers. Against Minnesota you've won 10 in a row and you constantly say, like we're sure you're always telling Packers fans, that anything before 1993 is meaningless and anything before 1968 doesn't count. Packer fans should be proud of their two championships, history books be damned Badger-Style!

So here's the question, why are you so overtly sensitive anytime somebody here says….anything?

I'm not sensitive, I'm logical. Who's trying to explain anything away? We lost @OSU by 7 and @ASU by 2. It is what it is. We were underdogs in both games. In the mean time, we've won 8 games by a combined to 331-77.

And I was under the impression that karma is usually a result of actions. You think the Badgers did something wrong by accepting the Rose Bowl bid or something? Also, Northwestern was ranked when we beat them. Not that it matters, because we now know that Northwestern was overrated. Just like Nebraska.

Not sure what you're saying about the whole nothing before 1993 counts. It does, it's just not as important to me as what's happening right now/recently.

Gophs seem to be on the rise, which is great in my opinion. Hope it continues, just not this upcoming week.
 

Some traditions in Hindu philosophy believe that a Supreme Being acts as a dispenser of Karma. This god does not make one suffer for no reason nor does he make one happy for no reason. The god is very fair and gives you exactly what you deserve. That horrible call would have balanced the unfair gift from last season.

Or not, like I said a number of times before just don't care.

This is why the rankings are garbage. Northwestern soundly defeated two BCS-conference opponents in non-conference play. But the rigors of a B1G schedule proved too much. Their struggles would lead any rational voter to conclude that the Big Ten is about as strong as the PAC 12 and significantly stronger than the ACC.

But the voters are not rational. They are completely emotional. And it is very evident as you look at the polls. Provincialism and sentimentality reign.

There are tons of general college football message boards where the entire point is to have some sort of banter back and forth. When I was 14, I liked getting into arguments on the internet too. This is not one of those boards. For instance, there are tons of message boards where people debate things like religion, politics, all kinds of things. That is the point of those boards. Now, if there is a message board for Christians and they are debating the ins and outs of some sort of theological difference between Lutherans and Catholics and someone jumped on the board to post atheist things, he'd be a troll. You're right, it's not brain surgery. It's shocking that you are completely unable to grasp the difference between you being on Gopherhole and you going to a general college football message board.

The difference is that you are coming to a Gopher message board for the sole purpose of trolling. You're free to do it, but the people here are free to consider you a troll.

I guess I don't understand it. I just don't take it that seriously. I have lived in the Twin Cities almost my whole life and it is a fun rivalry. People go way overboard with this stuff. Just my opinion.

Even more stupid when you consider the field goal against Arizona St. was far from a sure thing. Their kicking game was not in good shape at the time. They absolutely should have been ticked for not getting the opportunity to kick the FG, but in no way should they be considered 9-1.
 

With the National Playoff next year, the 9 game Big 10 Season, the non conference opportunities must be measured. If you have National Championship goals maybe you can schedule one mid major, but you better schedule a true Helmet Schools and beat them. Don't tell me about California, schedule Stanford, UCLA, USC, Oregon, Oregon State, Arizona State. Oh yea, well. And the most important thing is if you are a bowl team, you must want to and win. Until the Big 10 does those two things, they will thought of as a second rate conference. I fear The Ohio State might be playing Baylor. And the perception will continue.

It's easy to say that when you've been on the winning end for so long. Your program has had way more success than ours so when wisconsin fans come over here and essentially try to egg us on or call gopherhole "good entertainment", it can come off as being arrogant to some people.

I think the 2 MSU defensive PI penalties (one where the CB had inside position and was facing the ball when it was called) were just as, if not more, egregious as the Tempe call.

Therefore, should we say MSU is really 10-0?;)
