Does realignment affect recruiting?

Now B1G schools can pitch recruits on getting to travel across the country to play their sport. From coast to coast. LA, Seattle, Chicago, etc.

Will be interesting to see.

I was wondering the same, I miss the good 'ol days, but will the cache of playing USC, Oregon, etc. reel more top rated recruits in?
 

It would be fun to play the Ducks here at TCF before Bucky graduates. Apparently he had 3 years of eligibility plus a redshirt year when he went to the Ducks for the 2022 season.

He's listed as a junior this year so it would have to be the next two years unless the redshirt gets used for injuries.

Who knows, maybe we get Oregon out of the gate for his homecoming?
 

The Gophers will be in one of 2 conferences that matter. The best recruits will become more heavily concentrated in the SEC and Big Ten.

This can only be a good thing for the Gophers.

The other Big Ten teams have the same advantage. Doesn’t that make it a wash regarding conference play?
 

The Gophers have a unique culture with Fleck and over the last 4 years of sending kids to the NFL. If they can keeps what is unique about them, keep winning and sending kids to the NFL their rank will get better. They really have a chance to take the next step and get to the level of an Iowa/WI. Right now, despite betting WI 3 of 5, they are considered a solid program, but not at that next level. They need to get to the level where every they are considered a threat for the playoffs. Right now they are considered and outside chance but not a real threat in the eyes of recruits and national pundits.
 

if there are going to be two super-conferences, then it is better to be a member of one of those conferences.

for MN, the pitch is going to be "you can play on the biggest stage in college football." the very top-level recruits are likely still going to wind up with the helmet schools, but if a recruit is deciding between the Gophers and a Big-12 or ACC school, the idea of playing in the B1G may help the Gophers land a few more players.

but in order to take advantage, the Gophers have to win enough games to be relevant. "Come and play in the B1G" works a lot better if you're at least in the upper half of the conference. if you're the 15th or 16th best school in an 18-team conference, it's a harder sell.

Yes, but Bowling Green won’t know what hit em in our 2029 matchup.
 



You know, you can say winning is important to recruiting under any scenario. But, with all that's happening...this would be a good time to sweep Michigan, Wisconsin and Iowa.
