Disgusted/Disappointed

47 years since a league title, and you're huddling with the clock running and less than a minute left in the half, happy as a clam to be up by 7. I'm sick and tired of being happy to be the little engine that could. What happens if we're aggressive in that situation and it blows up in our face? No worse than it turned out. Maybe you lose the game? Well, they lost the game and looked passive doing it. I'd rather go out in a blaze of glory.

Ditto. The last 2 minutes of the first half was dismal. No instinct to attack and get points, horrible clock management,

take the rose colored glasses off we beat NO FUEICKING ONE this year of significance, our best win was against Ne who was hot and cold all year christ, I hate homers

Nebraska won 9 games this year.

I'm disgusted/ disappointed that there on people on this site that find qb play like we saw today acceptable. It's absolutely embarrassing to go into a game that big and not be able to throw the ball down 10 with 3 minutes in to go.

my final post on this subject, so you can have the last word my friend. Who the heck did ne beat this year, their resume is even FUIECKING worse than ours, basically, like the Common Man says, we are the best of the worst and the worst of the best. Kill made great improvements, I said that in many threads, did better than i thought this year, but they beat no one and the fumble that wi had was huge, take that away and we are not even in the game

Was it ok last week when Leidner drove for the game winning touchdown on the road in Nebraska?
The kid is hit or miss, that gets better with experience and experience around him at the receiver position.

Leidner needs to be replaced. It's pretty simple.

All the sniveling and whining on this board is audible in Madison. Geez, can you not lose without tearing out your hair and throwing your own team under the bus? Ugly.

I agree. Don't be a poor loser.

What makes me sick is Wisconsin will roll over tOSU without Barret and win the B1G championship. They didn't exactly beat anyone this year. They played us and Nebraska at home.

Agreed. Mitch is more inconsistent than he is bad or good. I was at today's game and saw it all... still hate how folks are jumping all over him. He is our best option - the rest doesn't matter. Go Gophers!

i'm not sure how else to read that. i'm happy in general, but i guess when a team that i root for scores less points than another team while playing ballsports i keep things in perspective. i like to read. i like to write. i like to ride my bike and have great conversations in real life. i'm not even sure why i am attempting to type words on a site where so many people are unable to keep things in perspective.
Hyperbole

I also like those things. However my post was in response to the theme of it's ok it's a process. We as gopher fans have lost 11 straight to our rivals. I'm not happy that we lost a game we seemed to have all the ability to win. I'm happy we are making strides. But not today.

I'm not blaming anything on any staff. The gophers have lost 11 straight.

Where are you, Adam Weber? If we only had an "average" qb performance, we could very well have been a winner!

Huddling before the half, moving chains, and trying to get last possible score prior to half was absolutely the right thing to do given that entire situation. The fact that we can't pass dictates that mindset and game control. They go in 20-10 and few would complain. 6 point swing was big. However, I'd argue the hands to the face call (which would have set up 1st and Goal) was even bigger. Just my opinion.

Experience may help Leidner make better decisions but experience isn't going to improve his accuracy as a passer.

Your right about him being hit or miss and that will be what he is throughout his career. He is what he is and at this point he is the best option the program has.

Fans like you help us have 47 years without a B1G title. Send Jerry and Teague a note thanking them for a great year. I'll continue to push for better; we should be better and today was a major disappointment.

Throw a hissy fit after the basketball game and act like an immature 14 year old today. Also would be willing to bet you've actually spent very little money supporting the Gophers, but, by God, you're going to push us over the top. What a clown.

Leidner was 36-93 with 1 TD and 6 interceptions in 4 losses. Anyone who finds that acceptable or "up and down" should find a new sport to watch. If there is not a better option next season than I start to wonder if these coaches are up to the challenge of Big10 football

What were his stats in our 8 wins?
You can't cherry pick like that and then deny he's played really well in our wins.

We all know he sucks in our defeats. That has to change, but he can look okay at times. He can be a decent quarterback, but he needs to be more consistent. Our offense can't totally hinge on which Mitch shows up to the stadium. We need consistency.

His completion percentage needs to improve from this year to next year though. You can't be completely incompetent when things get tough. On a bad day, you should still be able to go 11/20 for 110 yards.

Honest question... where do you expect that better option to come from? A Freshman? A JuCo? A Graduate Transfer? You do realize why those answers are not realistic, right?

I'm disgusted by the following:

-That we have not had the Axe in 11 years. That is a buzz kill for our fans and inexusable by Mason, Brewster and Kill.
-That our 2:00 minute drill consistently sucks and today did so in a way that that completely quashed our momentum and was the turning point in the game.
-That our DBs couldn't rise to the occassion. Erickson is an average WR and he was made to be an All American today. What a killer.....
-That our pass rush sucked so bad we made Stave look like an all conference type player. Unbelievable.
-That our D could stop Gordon but let down and let Clement gash us. Lack of discipline.
-That we really have folks on here who think that Leidner can be our guy. He sucked huge a$$ again today and I feel bad for the rest of our team to try and play through our terrible QB play and overall for them to hang in their today and to win some of the other games is a huge credit to them with a very below average QB in charge.
-Jerry and his staff got worked over by a Utah State staff. Other than the first quarter, the opponent was better coached and called the better game and we got worked on the coaching end of the house today. That was disappointing.

47 years since we've won the conference and we pissed this year down our leg: coaching, O and D all had some responsibility today sucked to be a Gopher's fan.[/QUOT]

I'm not surprised, not one bit disgruntled, but somewhat disappointed. A win and a good bowl game will heal this wound for now. Next year will get the Badgers in our house and there definitely won't be a mostly red in that stadium. We're up and coming and they have their hands full with the Buckeyes and their next bowl game.

I hope you losers find the cliff you're looking for and jump. Me? I enjoyed the best most exciting Gopher season in my lifetime. Hopefully the team is still learning and we'll get farther next year. Go Gophers!

So this is what a room of adults having a tantrum looks like. I'll file this thread for future reference.

Newsflash: Over 5 billion people in this world don't care about a football game between the UofM and Wiscy. Your whining isn't about kids not competing. It's about your own pride being injured because you can't, at this moment, grasp the fact that you just watched kids play a game and your kids lost. Go out to DQ and get a Blizzard and then go on with the rest of your life. Games over. Find something positive to do with the rest of the weekend and stop having a tantrum on the GH floor.

Honestly, anywhere. On the current roster, Perra, Rhoda, McKinzy, Strevler should all be given an opportunity next season. If none of them are better than this, they should think about playing another position or quitting.

If none of them are better than this, you find any Juco or graduate transfer capable of completing a 15 yard pass and try to win the big10 with them

I agree. I never thought I would be the calm one after a loss, but I guess the day has come.

Was it a painful 2nd half? Yes. Was Mitch Leidner laughably terrible? Yes. But I loved every minute of it. we were playing for something with 8 minutes left in our season. If you offered me the same scenario next season right now I would take it in a heartbeat.

back off the db play.. we had zero pass rush. no 50 yd WI naked bootlegs...so that was good.

Your post is really out of touch. Sorry, but it is. Give it a couple days.

Yes, let's fire Kill and start all over again. Two back to back 8 win seasons after being here for four years is simply not acceptable. Why we were unable to beat a 9-2 team with a Heisman Trophy candidate running back on their home field is incomprehensible.

In what way? You are comfortable with this next season? You think it's acceptable for a division 1 football team competing for a Big10 title not to be able to attempt a pass on 1st and 10 or 2nd and 9 from their own 25 w/ 3:30 left, trailing by 10?

It's absolutely pathetic. This was a really good team this season, and the QB play was absolutely atrocious.
