Just finished watching McKinzy's senior hudl highlights, and I was pretty impressed. Kid has a really strong arm.

For all the talk of him potentially moving positions (myself included), I think he will be a QB for us. The GI guys were saying that he was far and away the best QB in summer camp, and both Perra and Wilkie were there.

Hope they are able to red-shirt and spread out the years.

2015

Nelson SR.
Leidner JR.
Streveler SO.
McKinzy R-FR.

I don't think that he is fast enough to play any other positions, especially corner. His track times (I know, football speed is different) were below mediocre, like 12.4 for the 100m dash. I do like him as a QB. He isn't very fast, but he is elusive and has a strong arm. I also like his presence on the field. Seems like a confident QB.

i would hope that mckinzy is better than perra and wilkie as neither of those guys have Gopher offers and wilkie's stock has dropped big time from where it was a year ago.

What Kill wants to do with his offense will depend on what the decide to do with the QB situation. Mckinzy is a much better talent overall and COULD possibly play another position. If they want a QB who will run option or zone read, McKinzy will be able to do it best. If they want a game-manager with an accuarate arm, then it's Wilkie. If they want a little of both, probably Perra. I've watched all three of there highlights and I think they could all be the QB here one day, it just depends on what we want to do with them.

Good point.

Always hard to judge arm strength from a high school highlight reel, but McKinzy does throw a nice ball and he's very accurate.

I think Kill is doing the right thing in recruiting a QB in each class and spreading them out by red-shirting. Glad we didn't have to use Streveler this season.

McKinzy is not fast enough to play corner. I know track speed is different, but 12.4 in the 100m dash is SIGNIFICANTLY slower than any of our current quarterbacks with the exception of Conor Rhoda.

I'll concede he'll probably stay at QB after watching his Sr film (light years ahead of his Jr film). I don't care about track numbers, he looks plenty fast to me. His motion/mechanics are much improved between Jr & Sr film. Still not 100% on his arm strength since he's really only throwing slants & lofting up go routes. He's the QB I'm least excited about after watching highlight film, but KillCo know what they're looking for.

I agree. His highlights from this year are a lot better. His measurables are not quite there but like I said before, I trust the staff. I like the local QBs a lot. I'd really like to see at least one on the roster next year.

I don't know if McKinzie can play another position. He looks to be fairly athletic for a QB but he doesn't look like a BIG 10 caliber athlete at WR.

As far as Perra an Wilkie, I think Perra is a much better player. I think he's a better passer and I'd be 100% cool with the U offering him a scholarship.

I think arm strength is one of the few things that you can tell from a highlight tape.

It'll be interesting to see if we use Streveler at WR next season. The staff talked about it being a possibility this year because Streveler is one of the fastest players on the roster.

Streveler on the jet sweep! He might be the best runner on the team, even amongst the RB's

I think they're about the same. I've seen both of them throw in person at the U camp and they're very similar. I like Perra on the deep ball and Wilkie was very accurate on post routes in traffic. I'm fine with either but it depends on if we take another QB. Has either one taken an official visit?

Father McKinzy writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear.

Do you really offer Perra already knowing we have Streveler at QB possibly and future QB recruits like Ryan Schlichte?

Seems like Kill and Co. really like to recruit quarterbacks, knowing a position change may be in their future. I think the idea is that quarterbacks are typically the best player on a team and maybe would have stood out more if they would have been at a different position.

I tend to agree with you...normally track numbers/40 times/etc. don't matter. But a 12.4 is very, very slow for a D1 QB. McKinzy will not be a dual-threat quarterback here - that's not a shot at him - he'll be a solid pocket passer.

I'm a 5'7 skinny white male, and I ran a 12.43 as a freshman in high school. I probably wasn't even fast enough to sprint for most MIAC schools. Just giving some perspective if McKinzy's 12.4 time is accurate...
