Never watched a game with him doing the color work before but I thought he did a good job. Didn't feel like he had to fill every instant between plays with his own voice. Of course, since the Gophers were playing so well, I liked what he was saying. Less can be more. Kind of tired of Tim Brando.

I thought he did a good job as well, you can tell he brings a perspective from someone who has actually played the game. Some of those TV analysts seem pretty full of themselves and I like how he keeps it light.

Gardner is okay. Good balance between info and not-over-the-top excitement. Tim Brando did that one game where he was just "off" nearly all game last year when the Gophers played Illinois. I can tell he scans the rosters and depth charts to plan things like "DT for the TD" in the days leading up to the game he broadcasts. He isn't in my list of top play by play guys but I am okay with him. I recall him also doing the Field Storm game vs Wisconsin a couple years ago and I did chuckle when the announcer asked for everyone's attention but then the stadium played "jump around" while everyone was on the field. Brando said "Awe, now they are going to take 'jump around' away from them too." Loved that line.

I like Gardner and think he'll get better as he gets more experience. Tough pairing he has with Tim Brando given that he needs to defer to the "bigger star" and their 30-40 year age difference, but he navigates it pretty well.
